Polling from Narrative Research shows that the vast majority of rural Nova Scotians (94%) want the same or more protected areas in the province – even when weighed against other considerations like resource extraction and industrial use. Less than 5% of respondents wanted fewer wilderness areas.

Joanne Thompson, the federal Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, is increasing the total allowable catch of Atlantic Mackerel from 500 tonnes to 1,500 tonnes, despite the fish species being well within the “critical zone” (in danger of collapsing) of the Fisheries Act, for the last 15 years 🎣.
