We have been saying for many years that the only way to fix care is by all of the main parties agreeing on the same plan. We have a responsibility to work together and a real opportunity to fix it.

I feel hopeful about the talks today on fixing our broken care system but this is just the beginning. A solution is desperately needed. I will always stand up for family carers through this process.

Caring has been central to my life, and the lives of millions across the country. I'll be meeting the Prime Minister today to discuss how we can finally find a solution to the care crisis. We need to do things differently. I really hope we are on a journey to fix this.

I’m with my family in France and as people know I have a disabled son who needs 24/7 care, so I can’t be back in Westminster tomorrow - but I look forward to meeting Andy Burnham over Zoom. I’m hopeful this call may prove to be the first step towards fixing our broken care service.

Great to be out on the River Thames in Bisham with local MP Josh Reynolds for a litter pick as part of Paddle UK’s Big Paddle Clean Up! It was fantastic to get on the water, meet local people, and help keep our beautiful rivers clean and healthy for everyone.

Donald Trump is doubling down on his reckless trade war, after his last tariff tantrum was ruled illegal. He's a bully and an unreliable ally. We can't have continuity Starmer. Andy Burnham must stand up to Trump.

Kevin Keegan brought excitement to millions on the pitch and so much joy to the many he met off it. He will be greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers are with his nearest and dearest.

Disappointing not to hear anything from the new PM on social care, on Europe, or on protecting our precious natural environment. I hope that will come very soon – Britain can't wait much longer.

The rot at FIFA has gone too far. Under Infantino, political greed has completely broken the game we love. We can't just watch from the sidelines anymore, the FA and our European partners need to walk away and build a fair, clean alternative from scratch. It’s time to move on.

It’s been brilliant to visit National Star College in Cheltenham. Seeing their amazing design work highlights how crucial specialised SEND education is in helping young people build confidence.

In the age of Trump, the UK-Canada alliance is more important than ever in my lifetime. So it was good to meet to High Commissioner Blair, Canada's top diplomat in the UK – to talk defence, diplomacy, and the coalition of the willing.

I am absolutely delighted that Julia, Hannah, Tim, Dave & Mark will be joining our brilliant Lib Dem team in the House of Lords. They have the right skills, experience & values to help us hold the government to account, deliver the change people need and fix our broken politics.

Five new Lib Dem peers

Five new Liberal Democrat members of the House of Lords have been announced today: Julia Aglionby, Hannah Kitching, Tim Leunig, Dave McCobb and Mark Petterson.

In August 2024 Rodri and Álvaro Morata were rightly banned for one match for singing “Gibraltar is Spain”. Now the Argentine players who celebrated with the “Falklands are Argentine” banner must be barred from the final.

If we are ever going to fix social care, we need to work across party lines. I've invited @AndyBurnham to sit down once he becomes Prime Minister, in hopes of finally solving this crisis which takes such a toll on families, our NHS and our economy. There is no time to waste.

Today I called on our incoming PM to fix our broken politics. If Andy Burnham is serious about changing the way we do things and ending the performative hostility, my door is open.

Great to visit Torquay United FC for some footie. It was brilliant spending time out on the pitch with Steve and Jenny, and seeing their brilliant Torquay United Inspirations program, bringing together people with disabilities for a weekly kick about.

Dermot Murnaghan was a broadcasting legend who we have lost far too soon. His tireless advocacy, encouraging more men to get tested for prostate cancer, will no doubt have saved lives. Thinking of his family, loved ones and colleagues at this sad time.
