Eden Rivers Trust

@edenriverstrust.bsky.social

We're the Cumbrian conservation charity standing up for Eden's rivers! We're changing perceptions about rivers and enhancing and protecting the river environment so people and nature can thrive. We’re rethinking rivers. For good.

🎉 Happy 30th birthday to us! Eden Rivers Trust was formed today in 1996, when fishing rights owners and angling clubs came together to protect the River Eden and its Atlantic Salmon. Three decades on, our team has grown, but our commitment to improving the rivers we love is stronger than ever. 💙

🌿 Start your conservation career with us! We're looking for a Community Engagement Trainee to help connect people with rivers and nature across Cumbria. Paid 12-month placement based in Penrith. Applications close 5 Oct 2026. 👉 edenriverstrust.org.uk/vacancies/community-engagement-trainee-2026/

Words say: We are hiring! Community Engagement Trainee colourful silhouettes of leaves, a duck and a stonefly nymph surround the words.

Thank you to Cumbria Life Magazine and everyone who voted for us in the Cumbria Life Awards! We were thrilled to win the Best Environmental Project Award for our volunteer work. Our Vol coordinator couldn't attend the awards, so we took the award to her instead at the tree nursery!

Look out for our stand at popular sites around Ullswater this week. We're making the most of the summer with visits to Park Foot Holiday Park, Waterside Campsite and Glencoyne Car Park. If you're visiting the area, stop by our stand to learn more about invasive species posing a threat to our lakes.

We’ve been adding more sites to our Check, Clean, Dry Roadshow. We'll be taking the tour to Skyeside Campsite at Brotherswater on Friday. If you're lucky enough to be visiting this beautiful location, do stop by our stand and learn more about the threat that invasive species pose to our lakes.
