I know it looks pretty gruesome but it is nature after all. Saw this Ladybird on my window sill unaware it was heading towards a Spiders web sadly it didn’t escape.
Threw scraps out in the garden and it didn’t long for The Herring Gulls, Crows & Magpies to come in and eat them all up.
About to re read Bill Oddie’s Gone Birding book following my tribute to Bill by re reading his books.

Can’t believe we are in August already!!! This morning I wrote my August blog on my website. This is dedicated to Bill Oddie theedinburghbirdwatcher.com/2026/08/01/a...
As a tribute to Bill Oddie I thought I’d re read Bill Oddie’s Little Blackbird Book.
Cleared out the old Great Tit nest from April in the camera nestbox today ssdly found 3 un hatched eggs. Hopefully next year another bird will use the box.
Now planning my Birding Schedule for Autumn & Winter months. Looking forward going Birding again in September.
Its nearing the end of July which means my August Blog will be published on my website this weekend. Following the passing of Bill Oddie who got me interested in Birds & Wildlife my blog is going to be dedicated to him.
Today marked my last Birding outing for the Spring & Summer months. I will be back Birding in September ready for the Autumn & Winter season.
Here is my autograph I got sent from Bill Oddie in 2002 not long after I started Birding . His message “Keep Birding” has always inspired me to do so. Here are also some of his books I’ve collected over the years and my first Bill book was his Birds Of Britain & Ireland which I found very useful.
Went Birding in honour of Bill Oddie. Was very quiet but I knew that for this time of year. Birds I did see were Woodpigeon Heron Great Tit Crow Magpie
Very sad to hear that Bill Oddie has passed away at the age of 85. Bill has been part of my life for 24 years because it was him who got me interested in Birds & Wildlife to me he was my Birding mentor . Today I am going to go Birding in his honour . RIP Bill
Just seen a lot of young Blue Tits in the garden even having a look at the nestboxes which just reminded me I’ll need to empty the camera nestbox because it still has nesting material from that failed Great Tit nest back in the Spring.
Summer is well underway and reptiles & amphibians are more active! If you spot a frog, toad, newt, snake or lizard while you're out and about, record it on our free Dragon Finder app and help us track how UK species are doing. Get involved: https://ow.ly/BChk50XNBwI
Did you know next year is going to be a special year for me, I’ll be celebrating 25 years of Birding. My anniversary is on 16th February but I’ll be celebrating all through 2027.
Spotted a Fox walking down the street.
A lot of Swifts in Inverness this evening.
