Update on Hibs tickets for Premier Sports Cup Semi-Final

Hibs have now confirmed that following fans feedback, supporters will be able to purchase two tickets per client reference number for the Premier Sports Cup Semi-Final at Barclays Hampden against Hearts on Sunday 1 November. Tickets for the match will be able to be purchased directly from Hibernian FC.  These will be available to all Season Ticket Holders from 12pm on Monday 28 September, and then to all other supporters from 12pm on Monday 5 October when the remaining tickets go on General Sale.

Police charge 79-year-old man following fatal crash in Edinburgh

Police have arrested and charged a 79-year-old man in connection with a fatal crash in Edinburgh.  The incident happened on Wednesday, 18 February, 2026, within a supermarket car park on Meadow Place Road, and involved a pedestrian and a the driver of a car.  The pedestrian, Bill Hepburn, aged 66, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 79-year-old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

Local artists co-found new co-operative agency

Two artists in Edinburgh have co-founded a new co-operative agency with the aim of giving professional actors, writers and directors greater ownership of their careers while building a collaborative community for Scotland's creative talent. Theatre Maker Sarah Marie Mooney and actor Annabel Logan are two of five performing arts professionals who have co-founded Ignis Artists Agency which will bring together artists from across Scotland under the co-operative model in which member run the agency themselves. The agency will represent actors, writers and directors, putting its clients forward for professional roles and opportunities while also creating a space in which members can develop new work, strengthen their portfolios, build their industry knowledge and support one another throughout their careers.

Edinburgh estate agent lands national honour

An Edinburgh estate agent has won national recognition for her leadership abilities at legal firm Ralph Sayer. Tzana Webster, Head of Estate Agency at the firm, was crowned Leader of the Year Residential Small at the Inspiring Women in Property (IWiP) Awards 2026 in London. The award recognised an individual who has displayed superlative leadership ability as an inspirational mentor or coach who, as an example to others, has raised standards of excellence across the UK residential sector. New ‘That Guy’ campaign launched to reduce violence against women and girls

A new digital advert calls on men to be role models to help counter the toxic social media manosphere and reduce violence against women and girls. Police Scotland’s latest That Guy campaign starts today, Monday, 28 September, with a call for everyday role models to recognise the positive influence that men can have on each other and boys, to prevent the attitudes and behaviours that lead to harassment, assault and rape. The advert kick-starts a six-week focus aimed at tackling the over 200 reports of violence against women and girls crimes which are reported every day on average in Scotland.

Joelle Murray “disappointed” despite 2-0 victory over Aberdeen

Hibs Women Head Coach Joelle Murray was “disappointed” despite defeating Aberdeen 2-0 at Balmoral Stadium. Libby Smith opened the scoring with her eighth goal in just four matches in the 27th minute. Driver and three passengers taken to hospital following crash on A1

Police are appealing for information following a crash on the A1 in East Lothian. The crash happened around 8.15pm on Saturday, 26 September, 2026, on the northbound carriageway at the Innerwick junction and involved the drivers of a Nissan Quashqai and a Volkswagen Transporter. Emergency services attended. The male driver of the Volkswagen and three female passengers were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Hospital staff describe the condition of one of the passengers as serious. The others were discharged after being checked over. The driver of the Quashqai did not require medical treatment.

Former Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo joins Hibs training camp in La Manga

Former Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo has flown out to La Manga to join the Hibs training camp. The Welsh international scored eight goals and provided 11 assists from 70 Rangers appearances during his four-season spell after being signed from Schalke by Giovanni van Bronckhorst in 2022. He was released by Rangers in March, after four years at Ibrox and signed a short-term contract with Norwegian side Brann. Matondo will be joined by a number of Academy players who are currently on loan to other clubs. Jardine to step down at next election

The Edinburgh West MP, Christine Jardine, has announced that she will step away from politics at the next general election. Prime Minister Andy Burnham denied in an interview with STV this week that there will be an election anytime soon, confirming that the next general election will be in 2029. Despite that, Ms Jardine said that she feels it would be unfair to the local party that they could be in a situation where they don't have a candidate, if or when a snap election is called. Ms Jardine, who won the seat back from the SNP in 2017 and has a majority of 16,470, said that it had been a challenging few weeks and a difficult decision, but that she felt it was the best thing to do for the party.

Detectives hunt four masked men after West Lothian break-ins

Detectives are appealing for information following break-ins at two properties in West Lothian.  The first incident happened between 6.45pm and 7.30pm on Friday, 25 September, 2026, on Armstrong Crescent, East Calder. The second incident happened on the same street between 7.30pm and 8pm.  The suspects are four men, all wearing face coverings. They made off in a black Audi A4.  Detective Inspector Gavin Morrison said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed either break-in to contact us.  “We’d also ask anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which could assist our enquiries to come forward.”

Republic of Ireland debut for Hibs youngster Owen Elding

Hibs youngster Owen Elding made his senior international debut for  the Republic of Ireland's in Thursday’s 1-0 defeat to Kosovo at Fadil Vokrri Stadium.  The 20-year-old was introduced for the last few minutes of their UEFA Nations League clash in Pristina, marking his long-awaited debut for Heimir Hallgrímsson's side.   A goal by Vedat Muriqi for Kosovo in the last ten minutes was all that separated the two sides. Thebans gear up for “biggest yet” rugby clinic

Spanning four days, from 22nd - 25th October and once again at Inverleith Park, the 19th instalment of the annual Caledonian Thebans Rugby Clinic promises to be the biggest yet. The oldest inclusive rugby club in Scotland and embedded in the LBGT community, the Thebans are set to welcome teams from across the British Isles and also Switzerland with a club travelling from Geneva. Passengers can now be thrown off the bus for loud music as new rules published

BUS users in Edinburgh could be kicked off for playing loud music or making speakerphone calls after the city’s principal bus operator changed its rules. Lothian Buses has amended its Conditions of Carriage to strictly prohibit “excessive noise” or playing audio at a volume which can be heard by others. Property damage has also been explicitly defined and banned under the new rules. This comes amid mounting complaints about anti-social behaviour on the city’s bus network, with more than 1,000 incidents recorded halfway through 2026.

Edinburgh charity shop flooded after blocked drain and roadwork redesign

A CHARITY shop and beauty salon on a brand-new Edinburgh roundabout were flooded after rainwater on the pavement was sent flowing inside by a blocked drain. Both businesses have been closed for days now, while locals have accused the council and its contractors of a “dangerous, shoddy job” in its redesign of the roundabout. The council first began works on Davidson's Mains roundabout in April this year as part of a drive to make the junction safer and more accessible after a string of accidents. The roundabout was supposed to be reopened in June, but months of delays meant that it was not able to fully reopen until August.

Detectives hunt six youths in connection with serious assault on Rodney Street

Police have released images of six males officers believe can assist with ongoing enquiries into a serious assault in Edinburgh. Photo Police Scotland The incident happened around 10.55pm on Saturday, 29 August, 2026, on Rodney Street at the junction with Broughton Road. A 34-year-old man was injured and required hospital treatment. The males are all described as aged 16 to 18. The first one has brown hair and was wearing a black hoodie with a white motif on the arm and chest, black trousers and black and white trainers. The second is described as having black hair and was wearing a black hooded top and black trousers.

Crafts charity to take over troubled Edinburgh community centre

A lease has finally been agreed for a troubled community centre in Dumbiedykes almost four years after it shut down. A previous deal to lease the Braidwood Centre collapsed after a dispute with the council over meeting the cost of repairs. But after a second marketing process, the building will now be leased to the School of Ancient Crafts (SAC), a charity which specialises in living history workshops for schools and community groups. The council say SAC provided a “strong” business case outlining how community access will be maintained throughout the year.
