I'm from Latvia, and I sometimes do stuff.

Don't play the official Russian translation shipped with the 10th anniversary demaster of San Andreas, biggest mistake of my life

Huh, is the infamously unstable PS3 FTP simply caused by a slow HDD? I got a some 1TB HDDs to upgrade in my PS3 and Xbox 360, and transferring back like 40k files in /dev_hdd0/game went by without a hitch on the new drive. Couldn't even get a fraction of it with the old HDD, had to copy via USB.

If I had a cent for every time the PS3 version of GTA IV has straight up deleted a vehicle right in front of my eyes I would have like 4 cents which isn't a lot but it's weird that it keeps happening

Am I crazy, or does the PS3 version of GTA IV feel like it has somewhat reduced physics fidelity than 360/PC? Feels like I encounter more random physics glitches than usual, along with the game in general trying its hardest just to stay alive on the PS3.

Not sure if performing the glitch to have all companions recruited together in Fallout: New Vegas was the smartest choice, especially on the already unstable PS3 version, but...

Decided to write up a blog post about the ancient Windows Movie Maker bug where it completely messed up colors of some images. It's not exactly a scientific write up but it doesn't seem that anyone ever tried to dive deep into this, so hopefully it can be a useful starting point

Screenshot of a blog post titled: Chasing The Ancient Windows Movie Maker Hue Shift

Leading paragraph: If you’ve ever been on old YouTube, you’ve probably noticed that people didn’t exactly take care of their videos back in the day. Washed out colors, wrong aspect ratios, extreme compression with enormous watermarks – all of that was a very common sight. But there is one artifact of the past, that has always piqued my interest. That is: The Windows Movie Maker Hue Shift.

Shout-out to Rockstar and/or Dimitri's voice actor in GTA IV who calls Niko as Baltic instead of Balkan when speaking Russian on at least two occasions

3 years ago I picked up a copy of Fallout 3 for the PS3 that wasn't dumped on Redump yet. One sleepless night I decided to check it out, having never played Fallout but hearing a lot about it, and knowing full well Bethesda PS3 ports are infamously ass. Unexpectedly, I got really sucked into it...

@textfiles.com Dunno if you've already heard, but Redump has fully migrated to a new site due to neglect of its sole admin. Other sites and emulators already have or are in the process of changing links to the new site, I think Internet Archive should too!

A successor website to redump.org from the same staff team just launched, featuring better registration and metadata submission processes and HTTPS in 2026 among other things #redump redump.info

A screenshot of current redump.info main page. Official announcement text partially reads:

"As many of you are aware, there have been longstanding issues with the redump.org site infrastructure. Basic features such as HTTPS have been missing and the project staff have been unable to address this due to the site being tightly controlled by an inactive administrator.

This has become increasingly untenable over the course of the past year, with major site outages and issues causing real concern that data could be permanently lost. Staff have made multiple attempts over several years to contact the redump.org admin to ask for these issues to be addressed, but all of these efforts have been either rebuffed or outright ignored. We believe that the work done here at Redump is very important for long-term preservation of data, which has necessitated this shift to ensure the project is successful for many years to come.

As a result, this year we decided to take the initiative and move to a new site, giving us a more solid and modern codebase to work from, and a more collaborative governance structure ensuring that major site decisions cannot be locked behind the availability of any single member of the team.

[...]

The Redump staff would like to thank all of you for your patience as we've worked through this process, and over the past few years in dealing with the difficulties presented by the old site. We ask for your continued patience as we get up and running, as it will take everyone some time to get fully up to speed. In particular, for the moment we ask that you keep a note of any feature requests you might have. We will soon be announcing an official process for submitting these, and we have many ideas of our own, but for now our focus is on making this transition as seamless as possible."

> Boot up Fallout 3 on the PS3 > Enter the building I was just outside of in my last autosave > Game crashes > Autosave corrupted why do i do this to myself

Changing my desk again and realising a bunch of the cables and stuff cluttering up the back of my current one I havent needed or used in years

A random funny idea by a friend to try and compile my SCEE London tool for Android accidentally lead to me having to rewrite the handling of POSIX absolute paths because it turns out Google's Bionic libc behavior deviates a bunch from that in Linux/macOS 🙃

What does it say about me if I admit that whenever someone mentions Xcode, my immediate thought is always the Xbox BIOS bytecode language, and not the Apple SDK

The bikers in GTA IV: The Lost and Damned just throwing the middle finger to everything might've been seen as cool in 2009 but today it feels so cheesy I can't lmfao
