Cross-functional product manager. Likely to be found over caffeinated at a local farmers market or reading at home with the dog. Attempting to suck less at writing and photography. I have a newsletter! https://eliseisoverthinkingit.beehiiv.com

Friend: Cable modems are ancient technology. Me: Actually, hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) is an incredible technology that remains more than relevant today! It delivers speeds well beyond what a typical residential user would ever need for 1/3rd the cost! And on a well maint — hey, where are you going?

I would love to know what percentage of a posts on a given social media platform are complaining about that social media platform. And then see the breakdown by platform. It would be amusing to see, "X% of active users on this platform hate being active users on this platform."

I knew I had Something going on with my gender, but it felt like something I could ignore. And then I got my ears pierced. Seeing myself in the mirror with that feminine element demolished any ability I had to ignore my feelings. At that point, it became, "Well, I do this, or I remain miserable."

Why did you transition? Right answers only. I had suspected maybe I was trans for at least 15 years. I had KNOWN I was trans for about 5-6 years. After going through a divorce, I got to a point where I knew I had to at least TRY, or I would regret it forever.

"I'M SO TIRED OF PEOPLE ON LINKEDIN TALKING ABOUT TOPICS THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!" Friend, you're gonna be Big Mad when I introduce you to the entirety of human culture, history, and experience... Talking about topics we know nothing about is... kind of Our Thing.

I thoroughly don't understand why people use LLMs to generate their LinkedIn posts... What's the goal? They have to know that readers can tell, right? Why would someone read or engage with something an algorithm wrote? But... then again... this is the post that inspired this complaint...

"I spent hours writing a newsletter issue! What do you think?" LinkedIn: [crickets] _____________________________ "I grew a singular tomato!" LinkedIn: [Over 1.6K impressions; 35+ reactions; 19 profile views; 1 new follower] Y'all, I give up at optimizing for social media.

Other People on LinkedIn: "Here is my well-considered think piece, demonstrating my prowess in this sector." Me: "I GREW A TOMATO AND HAD A SANDWICH!"

Screenshot of a LinkedIn post from Elise Hunley, where she states:

"I'm proud to announce that I've already met one of my KPI targets for Q3.

My target was to grow no fewer than one (1) tomato and consume no fewer than one (1) tomato sandwich.

And only 9 days in Q3, that target was met!"

Below that text, are two images. One is of a woman holding a small, beefsteak tomato. The second image is of a woman gesturing happily at a tomato sandwich.

Others: I asked Claude to make me a website, and it made me a full-blown website and app with functional usage tracking! Me: I asked Claude to help me figure out if a tomato was ripe. It made up a source, denied doing so, and then gaslit me about it for 3 rounds before admitting the lie.

Took pictures of some dogs at the farmers market again this morning, and this is my favorite. Partly because it’s an adorable shot. But *mostly* because I ACTUALLY MANAGED TO GET ALL OF THE CRITICAL FEATURES OF THE PUP IN FOCUS FOR ONCE?!

A sort of doodle breed, looking sweetly at the camera with their tongue out.

"OH MY GOD. WHY ISN'T MY SD CARD READING! UGH! Is the USB port dead? This is ridiculous." ...the card was inserted upside down... ....*and* backwards... ...the contacts on the card were pointing *out* of the reader and up in the air in the opposite direction...

More frequently than one might expect, I end up reading at the local queer bar while waiting on friends to arrive. Which is how I ended up reading a book of theology while “Alejandro” was blasting over the speakers. I don’t think High School Me would be able to process my current life.
