My cat Amaretto has always been very submissive and shy, which I figured was a quirk of her being in foster care for so long - but the other day, she saw me pick up a flyswatter and RAN to hide under the bed, refusing to come out for hours. I'm heartbroken someone could treat an animal so poorly

Mccarthy's prose does wonders offsetting the gratuity of violence in his novel, it was probably the most enjoyable tapestry of gore I've ever read. I'm not sure if I want to jump into No Country For Old Men next, or detour to Moby Dick instead
