Shoutout to the guy i just saw in a sexy little 2-seater coupe who got the plate number NSECURE.
On the one hand, it is literally never good when a corporate overlord seizes control of a formerly Indy studio’s IP. On the other hand, Bethesda doesn’t seem to have made a single good call since I was in high school, so at least it was a studio that had no good output planned for the next decade?
Watching the slow rollout of YouTube videos relating the pathetic end of Euphoria is adding years back to my potential lifespan. Yes bitches, dunk on Sam Levinson’s creepy inept ass!
Today in “I know this is a thing that is happening, but I would really rather you not put up a BILLBOARD about it” news
The Met Gala appears to be 70% women trying to look like Greek statues, 10% black women actually looking like gold statues, 5% confused men Trying Too Hard, and only 5%delightful nonsense. Yay head chandeliers, though!
I can’t tell if the Met Gala is really boring this year, or I’m just tired and not scrolling enough.
…anyway, Gnarly is the most annoying noise I’ve ever had to deal with, and I lived through Reputation, so I’d actually appreciate it if they when ahead and got worse and less viral so the members can escape and my ears can heal.
Katseye is very explicitly a group produced using the K-pop idol system but sold to broader audiences. It feels like corporate music soup because it is. If that bums you out…yeah. The idol system is nightmarish. It usually comes with a lot of cultural distance from the US, so Blackpink feels better.
The next person to complain that Katseye sounds soulless and inauthentic is getting nailed to a chair and force-fed every kpop documentary in existence. *shakes cane at cloud* This happy meal I ordered tastes NOTHING like a steak! Why does McDonald’s feel so corporate!?
As the one person who wanted to watch Sam Levinson try to make compelling TV without stolen aesthetics, preproduction seized from women, and a whole bunch of naked “teenagers”, I am getting A+ schadenfreude off Euphoria season 3. Imagine being such a failure that ZENDAYA can’t save a script. Oof
In terms of an unusually educational seminar disguised as entertainment, RatatTalks is giving me early PhilosophyTube vibes. Felt like that merited a shoutout. youtu.be/BA54VHdb1j0?...

It’s mildly hilarious to me how much the world is irritated at Timothee Chalamet for saying he doesn’t want to do ballet & does want to work hard and win a bunch of awards. This is not a strange sentiment for a child of a ballerina, aka someone who worked very hard & got very few awards for it.
Life goals: live the kind of life that makes Trump this happy when I die
Donald Trump straight out of the traps with this extremely dignified and presidential tribute to a lifelong public servant. (I took this screenshot from truth social personally. It's real.)
Not me spilling coffee all over myself because I saw a random slightly scragglier than average brunette guy with crazy eyes and my brain thought “no way there is an Actual Cannibal in this airport!” And cracked myself up like a complete dork. Guess we know the song stuck in my head all weekend.
My current hyper fixation is Taylor Frankie Paul getting yeeted off The Bachelorette, apparently. Have an inane ramble about how this happened! Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is one of those shows don’t watch but I love to watch YouTubers talk about. But commentators have been slowly souring on it.
*narrator voice* The Bachelorette is cancelled. Will anyone involved with this IP internalize that it is bad to cast abuse victims/perps who haven’t left their abuser/victim on a dating show? Probably not!
Fs in chat for whichever producers on The Bachelorette and Secret Lives of Mormon Wives decided they didn’t need to space those shows out a bit. I don’t understand why anyone thought this would go well back to back, but tbh I don’t understand anything about The Bachelorette.
I’m not saying I’m a prophet or anything, but I definitely tweeted that Jack Harlow was cringe and performative years ago. (This is a joke. But I did actually tweet that he was using little Nas X to seem blacker, & I am deeply impressed he managed to find an even more embarrassing way to do that.)
That is a beautiful clip for every person who needs proof that PR training is worth the investment. Didn’t even blink, just answered like it wasn’t the dumbest question she could possibly be asked.
this morning anya taylor-joy was hit with a question that has never been asked before in the history of the universe
Breaking news: the dating show franchise that managed to pair their first black lead with a white antebellum cosplayer in the 2020s doesn’t have a strong moral compass. The maybe preggo domestic abuse trashfire from the Mormon Wives show is only an exceptional pick in that she doesn’t have a twang.
Okay, I need everyone currently upset that The Bachelorette has a domestic violence arrest to google, like…90% of all the contestants. The Bachelor franchise has a long, proud history of Extremely Questionable Vetting. Taylor Frankie Paul is just kinda…the norm.
Oof, Conan O’Brian is firmly on the Uncanny Valley side of rich people refusing to age normally now, I see.
Kiss All the Time, Disco Very Rarely, No, Even Less Often Than That
A+ standing up for morality & equity and such… F for taxonomy, but that’s okay, we all know the US education system is absolute garbage.
Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who was carrying a sign saying “Black people aren't apes,” was escorted off the floor. This is the second consecutive year that Green has been removed removed from the president's address to Congress for protesting. https://wapo.st/3ZQywBr
Well YEAH, that book is a painful read. Most of the stuff we drag high schoolers through were. Next read War and Peace unabridged. I dare you. You won’t, cowards. (Don’t actually do that. You will either be miserable or become a Dostoyevsky fan, aka miserable, but forever this time.)
So the takeaway I’m getting from the Wuthering Heights reviews is that we shouldn’t assign Brontë as required reading in high school if we aren’t going to teach kids how to figure out what it is trying to say.
Okay, so…in the year of nobody’s lord 2026, I can see why it would very superficially seem like a bad idea to cast a Romani Heathcliff. Sure. Y’know. Until you rebrand Wuthering Heights as “The Greatest Love Story Ever Told” and Jacob Elordi is over here looking like a sexualized lite-brite.
So I’m driving through the state park to the off-leash area, and in the distance there is Santa Claus, with his sack, and a handful of adults following him into the hills. An hour later I’m leaving, and there are some people coming back down that path, one of whom has a Santa hat on.
