French but mostly post in English Game and web developer, has been modder on Gmod. Doing opensource when I can #solodev on these games: Logistik: s.team/a/3928180 Alchemistry: s.team/a/1730540 Extortion: s.team/a/1299430 github.com/Elanis | elanis.eu

I've had a very busy week and weekend so there was not much gamedev in the last 7 days (thus why you didn't see my magnificent WIP GIFs😂) There was no update this weekend on Logistik demo but I hope to get some free time for one later this week! Also, we're at 410 outstanding wishlists 🎉 #solodev

Logistik on Steam

POV: you're discussing a new marketing image you did with the players, and they tell you that you should highlight the "Wishlist" text a little more. And then things goes crazy 😂

Sometimes, I want to think about something else in the middle of my workday, so instead of doomscrolling or anything like that, I try to contribute on Wikipedia for 5-15 minutes. Usually that's just updating informations in an infobox or something, but hey, that's something at least 😄

Just worked with the map editor on Logistik to improve the maps a bit :) I'm seeing some UX improvements on the map editor to make it easier for the next ones 😄 The images: New map, Map #1 updated, and previous version of the map #1 #indiegamedev #solodev #trains

Another welcome improvement on Logistik: trains can now reserve each track of a double-railway separately (and travel in both directions at the same time 😄)

Another major improvement in my gamedev lib I did yesterday evening: being able to control the map offset (where we're looking on the canvas) from outside the library/parent component. So, now, that means I can do that kind of feature on Logistik:

New fix on my rendering library during my gamedev moment this morning: I modified the zoom code so it zooms around the mouse instead of the center of the map. It feels really satisfying on Logistik now! :)

Little tip for people like me who enjoy following creators on youtube but couldn't care less about the recommendations: Disable your watch history on YouTube You won't have anything on the homepage anymore, doomscroll algorithmic shorts won't work anymore. (Did this for years, this is great)

Almost a hundred additional wishlists since the demo has been released and the train fest started :) Nice! Thanks! 💖 (July 22nd stats are only for 4 hours today, since it's PST)

Now that the first version of the game demo is live, my new goal is to add new features so the game feels more challenging and funnier long term! (So, costs and modulated revenues mostly) Also, once I did these features, I should have almost enough to build a real trailer for the game :)

Yesterday's gamedev on Logistik: I created a new tool to the map editor (locally for now, will be live in a few days, I think) to create a body of water, so I'll be able to add lakes and oceans in the game :) (The first map element you aren't allowed to go through with rails!)

I was scared of letting players play my (wip) game. Scared that they didn't like it. Really. Actually, they were nice, and it gave me lots of ideas and motivation. And seeing I'm earning more wishlists because people want to play more, that's already a relief :)

I'm 1 day late for last week one, but otherwise I'm still going with "writing one short story every week for the whole year", I'm at 30 already written the last 7 months! Okay, not all of them are great, but some are really cool (especially the space race one, I loved writing it!)

I'm taking a look at Logistik "GDD" (or what's the closest to one) and laughing. This actually took 13 months and 150 hours 😂 Okay, I did lots of pauses and R&D, but that's fun how wrong I've been initially.

Alright, gamedev time, let's start working on one last update, before mid afternoon I must release the demo to the public! (Train fest starts tomorrow 😄)
