A man with a heavy metal dance music project. Making synthesizers sound angry since MMXV. Denver, CO elayarson.bandcamp.com

Tár is American Psycho for the classical music world. I’m scared of how many things I find familiar in myself in Lydia Tár. Also it reminded me of why I abandonded music school. So much elitist politics that comes with music in academia which I cannot understand or tolerate. Terrifying film!

We used to be non-sentient goop billions of years ago. Before the Earth got all haughty spewing life all over itself. All birthed so WE take CARE of IT?! SCAM! We used to have Pangea and interactive dinosaurs. Now it’s just gambling and DMV lines. I guess money really changes some planets.

Rewatched ‘Days of Thunder’ (1990). Paper thin characters, virtually no internal life is present. The story requires a child’s (or boomer’s) understanding of the world to make sense. But… Hans Zimmer’s score sections sells the mostly montage experience. He used to make more than BWAMMM~ in film.

Mowing and caring for a lawn is one of the best active treatments for PTSD I have encountered. I think it makes me understand WWII vets and the 1950s suburban appeal a little more. That said, having a lawn is an insane luxury and an ecological bastardization.

My understanding of the current American job market is every job with great (120k+/yr) compensation is the following: • An adult daycare, 7 interviews to get in & do nothing in tech • A job doing something heinous and evil, degree, 5+ years experience, 100 certs • Doctor • Experienced Lawyer

Everything you can do while you’re alive is pretty cringe. Existing with consciousness is super embarrassing. Rocks see us with disgust. Anti-matter conceives of us as disease. That I want to eat a sandwich or hold a big boob makes beings made of pure light want to puke.

Costco puts in more editorial effort to sell people hot tubs, 80 pound bags of dog food, and lifetime size jars of peanut butter than @bandcamp.com does anything to help sell music. Costco sends out a paper magazine with actual articles. Bandcamp… makes money for the Songtradr guy.

Doesn’t seem to matter how powerful the computer gets; I will find a way to fill it up with music software and watch it break under the weight of 100+ track songs. Set the buffer on the audio interface to max, still crackling. Plugins on everything, never pre-render instrument midi. BREAK!

Bandcamp is my only source of having my music get reviewed anymore. For ‘Undead’: “hella heavy. if you tried deadlifting this album, your friends and family would be mourning a puddle. excellent, gut punching, driving synths with a few guitar solos thrown in just in case you weren't already dead.

As a career, my total financial earnings as a musician are pitiful for an adult. Especially low earnings for an adult of my age with my experiences, ability, and education. However, this might be one of the most lucrative art therapy projects in American history.

Denver is a concrete blood pool. A scar that blights pristine high plains under smog spotted among mangled litter. The rusted work camp monument to uncurious minds for bankrupt hearts. Steel buildings with sulfur scents churning human potential into dilapidated mediocrity. Shop. Eat. Die here.

After 24 hours on Bandcamp, my latest album ‘Undead’ is: #2 in goth #3 in retrowave #3 in darksynth #6 in industrial #7 in synthwave #33 in metal I’m grateful for the continued interest from people out there. People offering financial support for my art, even in these tough times, is a gift.

“Unhinged” You ever meet a very hinged person? It’s awful. Anything with 1 degree of variation from the most broadly marketable product or polite behavior is “wild” to them. Push the banner carriers of normal down a staircase.

2024 for me was persistent work and accepting the humility to improve. I released two albums, returned to school to complete a Bachelor’s degree, moved into a beautiful home, and did just about everything else I could to unrelentingly improve life for myself and the people close to me.

Now there are 11 Twitter apps, something, something, the beautiful bounty of our contemporary society. So convenient on so many platforms, to say the same thing to roughly the same people. This is my final allotted “noticing obvious things like I’m the first one” post of the year.
