Andy Zahn for WA LD20

@electandy.bsky.social

I grew up in Toutle, working as a farm hand, public lands steward, writer, and photographer. I am running for the legislature not to become a career politician, but to fight for rural SW WA and everything I love about this place. 20th LD 2026 candidate

As of the last update, I'm 9 points over where the last Democrat was who ran for the 20th LD in position 1. While I've got to win a lot more votes to pass my opponent, what we see now is real progress towards flipping this district blue.

Great letter to the Editor by my mother, Nancy Zahn, in The Daily News today! ""Now that we have received our ballots in the mail, it’s time to exercise our rights and vote. Voting is the greatest and most important of our freedoms in this country, and it should not be taken lightly."

I pledge to never take money from corporations. My opponant happily takes money from the likes of Chevron, T-mobile, Amazon, Weyerhauser, JP Morgan, BP, AT&T, Eli Lilly, ESA, Broadband Communications Association, Walmart, NW Natural Gas, Peacock, Lumen Technologies (Centurylink), Comcast, etc.

Washington's Growth Management Act was a great piece of legislation, but it is in urgent need of an update. Suburban sprawl is running rampant in rural areas, paving over our fields and forests. We must enact changes to strengthen the GMA and put a stop to further sprawl.

Here is what is working well and not so well as Washington State's Growth Management Act celebrates 35 years. Travis Merrigan suggests some reforms to keep suburban sprawl at bay.

The plan to drill a new tunnel, build an industrial haul road, and lower the level of Spirit Lake would be absolutely catastrophic for the lake, the recovering blast zone, and for local communities. It would also waste hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.

Just thought I'd share my current list of new parks I want to create in the 20th Legislative District. #parkchat #waleg Chehalis Lake Country Newaukum Priairies Cinebar Canyon Hopgood Rock The Rockies Mineral Lake Dog Mountain Kiona Peak Packwood Meadows Winston Creek Cowlitz Banks Jackson Prairies

Happy independance day! Please think about all the animals (both wild and domestic) before you set off fireworks this 4th of July. This baby Robin has only just left the nest this morning, and he's being subjected to all the stress of a battlefield as people set off explosives all around.

This is the line for the bathrooms this morning at Paradise in Mt. Rainier National Park (MRNP webcam). The overcrowding problem in our National Parks has an obvious solution: build new large, wild parks nearer to our towns and cities.

I am grateful for the endorsement of the 20th Legislative District Democrats. I am dedicated to uplifting rural communities in Southwest Washington, and together we can do great things for this state.

The 20th Legislative District is pleased to announce that we have endorsed @electandy.bsky.social for state representative position 1. He has great ideas to revitalize our rural economies and chart a new path forward for the 20th.

It was great to have the opportunity to talk to so many folks at the Longview Pride Festival this weekend! It was wonderful to see people get excited about parks, industrial hemp, and various rural revitalization measures in Southwest Washington. It sparked many constructive conversations.

Key objectives I hope to achieve in WA's 20th Legislative District if elected to public office: 33 New & expanded Parks 8 New Train Stations 6 New Industrial Hemp Processing/Manufacturing Facilities 10 Major Affordable Housing Projects 0 acres lost to suburban/commercial/industrial sprawl

If you want an idea of what a sad condition Washingnton's passenger rail network is in, just look at the horrendous delay which has been inflicted upon passengers headed East from Seattle on Amtrak's Empire Builder this evening.

Out bringing in the hay this week! Southwest Washington is home to some of the most productive and beautiful farmland in the state, but that precious heritage is at risk as more of these fertile lands are buried beneath suburbs, warehouses, and strip malls each year.

It is heartening to see college students reject the charlatans peddling AI & data centers. Americans don't want this job-killing, water-hogging, power-guzzling, noisy, polluting tech that is paving over our landscapes while providing no benefit to anyone other than corporations & the ultra wealthy.
