Today marks 3 years since Bremerton's Race Equity Advisory Commission was created by city law — and for three years, Mayor Wheeler has defied that law by refusing to appoint even a single member. For three years, residents have been denied their voice in Kitsap's most diverse city.

With less than half of Bremerton ballots counted on Election Night, I chose to wait for a meaningful number of votes before sharing any update. As of this evening’s results, nearly three-fourths of Bremerton ballots have now been counted, and it’s clear the path to winning is extremely unlikely.

Many #Bremerton families — especially Shipyard workers — are going without pay during the shutdown. Kitsap Transit, PSE, Cascade Gas & Foodline have stepped up. It’s time for the City to follow suit and let furloughed workers defer utility payments until paychecks resume.
