If there are Seven Wonders of the Cycling World, Beijing's Shangdi–Huilongguan Highway deserves a place on the list. The 5.4 km elevated expressway is designed so riders can cycle its entire length without stopping; cutting their commute to 30 minutes—halving the rush hour travel time by car/metro.

What is the energy transition? The definition is totally broken. This article is full of great examples of the contradictions: "The energy transition is advancing. It just is not yet advancing fast enough to stop emissions from rising." robertrapier.bsky.social www.forbes.com/sites/rrapie...

Energy Demand Outpaced The Transition In 2025

The 2026 Statistical Review shows clean energy grew fast in 2025, but global demand grew faster, pushing fossil fuel use and emissions higher.

This inteview is really enlightning about why IPCC scenarios are not able to account for tipping points. And how models since 2010 are dependent on big CCS deployment that is not close to happening. We need CCS because we have to for the model to get to the goal wanted. Not because it is realistic.

"Instead of analysing future #climate as a sequence of quasi-equilibria — as a system that will settle when the world stops emitting carbon — researchers must treat it as an unstable system that is reorganizing while society tries to phase out carbon-based energy." - @alevermann.bsky.social
