It gets even more shameful, if that’s possible. Jesus. The European democracies really must be understanding the US as an enemy now. Lifting sanctions on Russia also comes 24hrs after *placing sanctions* on the ICC. Where the fuck are those “Reagan Conservatives”? The abject immorality.
Much better. Bruno’s shooting ability is such an upgrade.
Odegaard is off it. A few seconds to slow to the ball, a few seconds too late with the pass, a yard too heavy or too short every time.
Where the historical perspective lands in 20yrs will be so interesting. Will MAGAfication of the US into far-right, isolationist nativism continue? Or will universalist democratic values reassert themselves? If the latter, how will the US confront the national shame, the disgrace of this period?
The United States is now officially allied with Vladimir Putin and Russia. We will fund Russia’s genocidal war machine in exchange for Putin helping Trump and the Republican Party in the midterms. One of the most shameful and disgusting days in the history of this Republic.
Absolutely horrifying. This is what the US government has devolved to. Live-streaming murder for glorification and entertainment purposes.

"We'll make sure that people are able to watch it," the US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Thursday.

So many tumbling, difficult thoughts. 1. I never expected anyone to be able to make JRM to seem like a world-historical statesman 2. I thought that TC was just a right-wing blowhard, I had no idea that he is so galatically, prodigiously thick. 3. He’s being spoken of as a presidential candidate. 🤯

I see that it’s now being reported that this exactly their “irrefutable evidence” - the owner and head of state is not the same as the state, the head of state is not the same as the owner. What an absolute shower. These people are completely shameless.
…it’s all effectively his. The question is whether the financing was under the direction of *the state* & associated entities, which are inseparable from him. That they are obviously trying to draw this distinction is just further dishonesty imv.
I’d previously felt unemotionally curious about the City cheating stuff. But since the full details have emerged I find myself getting more and more enraged. Football became unbalanced once the Premier League was founded, but this is so egregious, so undermining of the whole premise of the sport
Been waiting to see what Man City’s confidence that they will eventually win is premised on….wow. Their whole scheme not only seems transparently dishonest, but also inept - e.g inventing sponsorship on the fly to plug a sudden shortfall. It’s all bluster - they are completely bang to rights.
Just discovered that Martin Wheeler, aka Vector Lovers, has died. Incredibly sad and a huge loss to British music. For anyone who hasn’t heard his wonderful, moving electronica: go and find it.

Agree with all of this from Clive Lewis. And so horribly disappointed by Tom Watson. Although there were early signs - he spent a few years post-parliament advising the gambling industry.
Tom Watson’s move to Palantir is the latest sign of how far the rot has spread in UK politics | Clive Lewis
When a former Labour deputy leader joins a firm built on surveillance and military targeting, it deepens public cynicism – and democracy depends on trust, says Labour MP Clive Lewis

Brighton are a much better side than I thought they were. We need to match their work rate, although I hope they’ll tire and drop off after an hour or so.
Where Sir Jim does make a valid point is that we’ve failed to deal with the “immigration & benefits” problem. Jim received the benefit of a free university education at taxpayers’ expense (which my generation did not). INEOS has received £101.3m in direct taxpayer grants & subsidies - “benefits”

Excellent article - particularly the questions posed at the end. Also the important point that the media *never* contextualises Mike Huckabee, who is not a normal diplomat, but a religious zealot with a crazed, millenarian agenda.
Many members of the Israeli establishment vehemently oppose what is happening in the West Bank. You wouldn’t know it from the criticism aimed at Ed Miliband, writes Alan Rusbridger
Ukraine, Europe, international law & the UN Charter has laid out its line of what it wants to achieve. If Russia, you know, wanted to stop invading another country and withdrew to its own borders then, obviously, the war would end. Russia right now does not want to do that.
Kushner on Ukraine: “President Putin's laid out his line of what he wants to achieve. If Ukraine, you know, wanted to withdraw to that line, then obviously, you know, we have the rest of the deal set up and put together. Ukraine right now does not want to do that.” Putin’s brain cell
Watching 9/11 - an absolutely execrable film about the event. Got me thinking about 9/11 films: Greengrass’s United 93, Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11, and 11′09″01 September 11 are the best. In hindsight, World Trade Center was an early indication that Oliver Stone was losing his mind.
Why does anyone think this isn’t naturally going to go the way of the US, as night follows day? We will end up with a conspiracy-drenched, violent, highly radical section of our population permanently camped on the extreme right. Meeting the headwinds of this with “legitimate concerns” isn’t it.

The big issue Badenoch has is that her clipped style of telling-off and supercilious self-regard is the kind of character type that pisses *everyone* off beyond fury when they encounter it in their personal lives. You stop listening because you just want to shout “Stop! Fuck off, I’ll do it later!”

I don’t believe a word of this, no-one is this thick. It’s just the latest play in the dismal game of attention-seeking, self-justification and monetised vapid chatter that characterises the populist politics scene.

These are the big ideas, guys. This is a party with momentum, tearing into the fourth industrial age with answers. Reminds me of the UKIP manifesto after the 08 crash, in which they pledged that in a UKIP Britain taxi drivers would wear a collar and cuffs.
Since the early 2000s Russia has: exported organised crime to the UK, exploited London in order to launder money, assassinated British citizens within the UK, distributed radioactive material and chemical agents around British streets, which led to the deaths of British citizens…
I was worried about this outcome. The whole thing struck me as incredibly sad, and the pile-on totally excessive.
Both the prosecution and the defence appear to me to have a case but, as so often with the culture war, they are cases tainted by hypocrisy and the desire for supremacy in a zero-sum game. More than anything, I feel very, very sorry for Dr. Arday.
Watching the new 4K restoration of Night of the Juggler, which I’ve never previously watched. This film has some of the best chase sequences I think I’ve ever seen.
