Great to meet with a group of primary headteachers from across Lewisham West this morning to discuss some of the challenges facing schools and listen to how the Government can help support both teachers and pupils to thrive
This government will continue to uphold and defend international law. This week, I confirmed that the UK stands with the International Criminal Court and we strongly disagree with the sanctions imposed on it.
The loss of a child is devastating for parents and families. Baby Loss Awareness Week is a time for us to remember babies that have been lost, help parents feel less alone and work to make sure they have access to compassionate support during such a difficult time.
Proud to confirm the national rollout of the Victim Transformation Programme. Domestic abuse victims will now have a dedicated victim liaison officer supporting them from charge to trial. When I said I would put victims at the heart of our criminal justice system, I meant it.
As Attorney General, I want to build a justice system that works for victims. Today I confirmed the national rollout of the Victim Transformation Programme - giving every domestic abuse victim a dedicated liaison officer, for better support from charge to trial.
Thames Water are still letting down our community, with more burst pipes in SE22 and SE23. I’ve been clear that residents deserve better and I’ll continue to challenge their poor service. Read my most recent letter here.
I’m disappointed Thames Water are once again letting down residents in SE22 & SE23 as households continue to face low/no water pressure. If you are affected and require further support, please contact my office: ellie.reeves.mp@parliament.uk
Out canvassing in Sydenham with Jack Lavery and Labour friends 🌹 Great to talk to residents about what the Government’s vision of hope means for Lewisham West & East Dulwich & to pick up some important casework issues.
Great to visit Kirkdale Bookshop today to celebrate their 60th Birthday 🎂 I have been coming here since I was a child and now I bring my own children. Thank you to Geraldine, Freddie & the team for being at the heart of our local community. 10% off all day today so do pop down!
Lovely to be at the Sydenham Society AGM last night. Great to talk to residents about the issues facing SE26, including ASB, Thames Water & Sydenham High Street. If you live in Sydenham please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do to help.
As Attorney General, we stand firmly behind the International Criminal Court and its vital work in holding perpetrators of international crimes to account. I disagree with the sanctions on the Court. I will continue to protect international law and defend its independence.
During #KinshipCareWeek I want to pay tribute to the grandparents, siblings & other kinship carers in Lewisham West & East Dulwich who step up to raise children when their parents are unable to. The love & support you provide to so many children is truly life-changing.
This morning Councillor Peter Bernards, Councillor Ese Erheriene and I had a meeting with the Post Office regarding the Forest Hill Branch’s closure on the 20th of October. You can read the full update below 👇🏻
Great to be out on the doors in Holborn and St Pancras campaigning for Labour’s Sagal Abdi-Wali. Rooted in the local community, I know she will be a fantastic MP, serving local people and bringing hope to Camden 🌹
The Green Party's divisive "Zionism is Racism" motion has caused great concern amongst the Jewish community here in Lewisham. I've written to @liamshrivastava.bsky.social calling on him to condemn it and reaffirm Lewisham’s commitment to tackling antisemitism.
Today marks three years since the horrific 7th of October attacks. We remember those who lost their lives at the hands of Hamas terrorists and the pain that continues to impact our Jewish communities. It's more important than ever that we call out antisemitism when we see it.
I want to pay tribute to St Christopher’s Hospice in Sydenham as part of Hospice Care Week for the incredible work they do. Would highly recommend their Compassionate Neighbours project, which connects volunteers with residents in need. Information below ⬇️ www.stchristophers.org.uk/compassionat...
My visit to Justice and the CPS in Liverpool shows why it’s important to put victims’ voices at the heart of the justice system. I recently announced that every domestic abuse survivor will get a dedicated victim liaison officer in the CPS, supporting them from charge through to trial.
Last month, 500,000 more pupils in England had access to a free breakfast club. I spoke with Kelvin Grove Primary School pupils about what their new breakfast club means to them!
For too long, our water systems have been run for the vested interests of private companies. It isn’t working for customers or the environment. Yesterday’s announcement will end the ban on government ownership of water companies, putting them back into the service of the public.
I am proud to announce the national rollout of the Crown Prosecution Service's enhanced service for victims of domestic. This will mean victims of domestic abuse having a dedicated victim liaison officer, providing better support from charge to trial.

It was great to talk to the BBC about the work this government is doing to support victims of rape with today’s announcement on specialist court rooms, ensuring victims get justice sooner as part of our plan to halve violence against women and girls.
