New paper out in Soil Biology and Biochemistry! “Eco-evolutionary controls of microbial extracellular enzyme production in soils” doi.org/10.1016/j.so... Work on this paper began 5 years ago when I first started my PhD and it has taken many turns since then. Very happy to see it out eventually! 😊

Soil microbes grow, respire, die. Because their biomass eventually becomes necromass, and necromass can be stabilized in soil, growth rate emerges as a powerful predictor of soil carbon: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
