Reading ‘Seven & a Half Lessons About the Brain’ by Lisa Feldman Barrett & on the false “nature vs nurture” dichotomy she says, “We have the kind of nature that requires nurture.” And I like that. She writes nice.

So I’m learning that CAMHS workers are instructing parents to film their autistic children’s meltdowns. If you have received this advice, please consider keeping a journal instead. Being filmed will absolutely add to overstimulation & will make the meltdown worse.
I’m used to MAGA autism moms blaming people like me for their kid’s lack of support, y’know, instead of the fascists they voted for who can’t seem to stop cutting funds for said support.. But Uta Frith repeating the same rubbish has really rubbed me up the wrong way. So you’re getting a video or 2.
We casually stopped a data centre, gave 40 boxes of food, gave over 4,000 waters, 30 tents, and stopped 3 raids the last month

The Economist interview just shows how utterly inept these people are at dealing with someone like Musk.
Adding to this…or adulthood. This idea from “estranged parent” groups that it’s adults simply misremembering their childhoods through a lens imposed on them by some therapist is so wild. It’s so often the parent’s ongoing abuse into adulthood that pushes adult children over the edge.
I actually agree that trauma is an unfortunate word because in a research context a "potentially traumatic event" is a more narrowly defined thing. But if your parents harmed, damaged, or hurt you, you can stop speaking to them. You don't need to have clinical PTSD to have had a shitty childhood.
I watched the entire US defamation trial & read the transcripts from the UK case & believe 110% that he is absolutely guilty of every single one of the accusations against him. Accusations which even I don’t want to type out here because it’s so horrific.
Even in content calling him out, D€pp’s crimes go understated. Probably because people don’t want to get into trouble. What he did is so absolutely vile, so sadistic & cruel, over the course of years.. I honestly can’t believe anyone is willing to work with him ever again.

Together, we can stop Sex Matters spreading hate about trans people. We just need to force the Charity Commission and the government to confront the facts. Email them now👇 https://action.goodlawproject.org/sex-matters-complaint?utm_source=bluesky&utm_campaign=SexMattersCC&utm_medium=social_media

It’s not even code. It’s policy. It’s policy written down in manifestos such as the AfD’s. Manifestos that people can vote for in the next election. Manifestos which almost 1/3 of Germans say they will happily vote for. They really mean all immigrants too. “Ausländer raus!” is what they chant.
The world’s richest man, at it again. Reminder: “remigration” is far right code for the forced expulsion of ethnic “undesirables” in order to “purify” the nation.
I don’t have words. There were violent far right “counter protests” too. The CSD organisers have been warning the authorities for years that things were getting worse. I’m just. Idk. I’m so fucking angry. amp.dw.com/en/1-dead-16...

I try to work. I promise I try.
Tbf I’ve been quite sick for almost 2 weeks now but I genuinely thought it was Tuesday today. I lost 2 days. Losing 1 day happens semi-regularly, but 2 is new.
Little known to many, on the 10th June, the government released the interim report on ADHD and neurodiversity services in the UK. It came out to very little fanfare. Why? Because it doesn't match the government & the press narrative on "an epidemic of neurodiversity diagnoses".
Considering how much time people spend scrolling through content made by content creators, they really don’t understand how much work goes into making all this.
US-centrism isn’t just annoying, it’s dangerous. The amount of US-specific information that my brain absorbs every day is incalculable. And when most of it doesn’t actually apply where I live, that leads to a kind of epistemic alienation.
I’ve come to realise that a lot of internet content is just angry adults publicly beefing with children. And I think that’s probably bad.
Neoliberalism & the austerity it necessitates is responsible for countless deaths. The people who enact it absolutely know this. They go in with their eyes open. We have been propagandised to believe that these “hard decisions” are necessary & that public spending isn’t an investment but a waste.
Just in my lifetime, just in my adulthood, UK government policy has killed at least the same number of disabled people as were murdered by Nazis during Aktion T4, maybe even more.

In the UK, autistic & intellectually disabled individuals are detained illegally, against their wishes or the wishes of their families. Currently they number over 2k. The government spends hundreds of millions to do this instead of investing in community care. www.mencap.org.uk/press-releas...

People forget this. Austerity was a purposeful, economically unnecessary, political decision which hurt those who can’t work the hardest. These deaths were entirely predictable & avoidable, but for my whole life, people have argued in favour of austerity. share.google/oTRdJYHfO3mn...
