Great week at Cornell University 🇺🇸 for the annual @chemicalecology.bsky.social conference! Excited to present the first results from my MSCA fellowship on sea cucumber chemosensation. 💙 Thanks to @msarscentre.bsky.social, @scienceandtechuib.bsky.social 🇳🇴 and @erc.europa.eu for the support!

MSCA 🇪🇺 Post doc Fellow @MichaelSarsCentre 🇳🇴 interested in marine chemical ecology from metabolite chemistry and receptor biophysics to behavioural responses and ecological significance. Echinoderm enthusiast ⭐️ 🇨🇦/🇧🇪/🇴🇲. She/her. 🏳️🌈
And so it begins! Excited for a week of Chemical Ecology 🌱🐝🪸 at the annual conference of @chemicalecology.bsky.social
Was wonderful to chair this first session at #MSS2026! I am still always surprised by how stimulating these symposium days are! 🧠⚡️ Thanks to the organizers @msarscentre.bsky.social & @cbubergen.bsky.social!
We started very strong with the first #MSS2026 session, as Anne-Claude Gavin, Deirdre Lyons @scrippsocean.bsky.social and @jmbrandenburg.bsky.social put cell biology in context 🔬 Fascinating insights on lipid transport, mollusc diversity and ascidian development in a changing ocean 👏
3 nights in a tiny log cabin in Ustaoset-hiking, painting, napping, board games, and real quiet. 🧘♀️ Grateful to work at @unibergen.bsky.social, where this kind of reset is part of the deal! 🫶 Feeling lucky- and a little more human again! ✨
It was an absolute pleasure hosting @laurentformery.bsky.social! Wonderful to talk cuke business with someone just as enthusiastic about echinoderms as me! 🤪
Fantastic talk this morning by @laurentformery.bsky.social @biom-banyuls.bsky.social 🙌 Laurent presented his work on cellular reprogramming and symmetry during sea cucumber metamorphosis ✨ Beautiful images and lots of exciting discussions - thank you for visiting us in #SunnyBergen!
Looking forward to this years line up at the Michael Sars Syposium! 🧠🔥
Fantastic news 🙌 Deidre Lyons from @scrippsocean.bsky.social joins the Michael Sars Symposium speaker lineup! Register to attend her talk and many more on June 4 ➡️ tinyurl.com/joinMSS2026 Together with @cbubergen.bsky.social, we have prepared a program you won't want to miss! #MSS2026
Aquatic & marine chemical ecologists 🌊🧪 I’ll be chairing the Aquatic Chemical Ecology session at @chemicalecology.bsky.social ISCE 2026 (June 21–25, @cornelluniversity.bsky.social ), and I’d love strong representation from our community. If you’re interested in attending/presenting, let me know!
It really was a blast! ⛴️🦐
Postdoc Emily Claereboudt @emclaereboudt.bsky.social recently joined an expedition to the North Sea led by our colleagues at the Institute of Marine Research 🌊 She tells us about her experience collecting sea cucumbers in stormy weather for her #MSCA chemosensation project 🤩⤵️
Just back from 10 days at sea aboard G.O. Sars 🚢 😍 Joined a 🦐 shrimp survey to collect sea cucumbers — rough weather, but a fun and productive cruise. Thanks to the Institute of Marine Research for the invite! 🌊 and the @msarscentre.bsky.social for the support!
It’s such a joy working with these beautiful animals 😍😍 Huge thanks to @alexandrejan.bsky.social for capturing my gorgeous little creatures! Can’t wait to share more cuke science and photos soon — stay tuned! @msarscentre.bsky.social
Tiny sea cucumbers, big mysteries! 🪱 Out sampling for my MSCA project SensHolo at the @msarscentre.bsky.social, at the University of Bergen, 🇳🇴— exploring how these mini echinoderms sense their world. Plus a few bonus echinoderms! 🌊✨
🙈ooooopsie 🌊✨ Forgot the most important part in my #chemecol2025 excitement yesterday 🫣 — huge thanks to @mchatzigeorgiou.bsky.social and @msarscentre.bsky.social for the support behind my work on chemical cues & larval behaviour in Ciona intestinalis!
🌊🧪 Big day at #chemecol2025! I presented my talk: “Chemical cues & larval behaviour in the tunicate Ciona intestinalis 🪸✨ I had the pleasure of chairing the Aquatic Chemical Ecology session — featuring amazing talks on annelids, cnidarians, oysters, and red algae. 🌿🦪🪼🪱

🎬 ACTION! The curtain rises… So pumped for a whole week of chemical ecology adventures here in Christchurch, NZ 🇳🇿 with @chemicalecology.bsky.social! Expect plenty of land drama 🌱🌿🐝🦟🪲 …and some splashy aquatic cameos too 🪸🪼🦪💦 Let the #chemecol2025 show begin! 🎉
So awesome seeing some marine chemical ecology research on the cover of science!! 💙💚
Kelp forests on the coast of Maine are in decline owing to rapid ocean warming and are being replaced by turf algae, which alter the ecosystem’s chemistry, hindering the recovery of kelp forests. Learn more in this week's issue of Science: scim.ag/4dwzl8j

📣🌊 Calling on all aquatic chemical ecologists! 🌿🐠 Join us at @chemicalecology.bsky.social conference in Christchurch, New Zealand 🇳🇿 , Aug 18–22! I will be chairing the Aquatic Chem Ecol session — send us your abstracts! Submissing in link below👇 📅 Deadline: May 31 Let’s make some waves in NZ! 💧🌏
Pretty proud of my first post-doc paper making the cover and “new & notable” section of @biophysj.bsky.social 🥹💪
Congratulations @emclaereboudt.bsky.social and team for a new article out in @biophysj.bsky.social 👏🤩 Combining functional and structural data, they show that FaNaC receptors in molluscs and annelids have different binding modes for the same ligand 🧪⤵️
🚨Registration & abstract submission is open for this years International Society of Chemical Ecology Conference! scienceevents.eventsair.com/isce-apace-2... 🎙️ I am also happy to share that I will be chairing the “Aquatic Chemical Ecology” session! 🌊👃👅🧫 Hope to see heaps of you in beautiful NZ 🏔️🇳🇿

Ciona intestinalis in situ @ 25m around Sotra island,🇳🇴! @msarscentre.bsky.social I am trying to understand how chemical cues lead to these mass aggregations!
