Okay I THOUGHT I was getting Nioh but I'm once again smashing my head against a boss like 15 times in a row and getting my teeth kicked in so maybe this game's just not for me

[Nioh] Wow this is a very long cave to have to traverse every time I die with no shortcuts. Also I have to fight Ornstein and Smough at the end

Okay okay I'm kinda starting to "get" Nioh. The mission structure makes sense. It really is basically Stranger of Paradise except with an aesthetic that is WAY less appealing to me and without the conveniences that make the equipment system not annoying

[Nioh] This is SUCH a mood whiplash. I felt like I was playing Dark Souls and suddenly I feel like I'm playing Monster Hunter. What the heck

Screenshot of Nioh. The blacksmith girl is giving me a bunch of tutorial prompts in a menu.

Played another game of Lost Branch of Legend today! And I remembered why I don't play it much anymore Every act 3 fight takes sooooo looooooong

I'm giving Nioh another shot and. I dunno, man. I've died to the same oni guy 10 times in a row and I don't feel like I'm any closer to "figuring it out" This isn't even a boss, it's just some guy

[Slay the Spire 2] It hadn't really hit me how utterly bizarre the new Expect a Fight rework is Like yeah, that's what strength gain decks want? Stalling?? It's not even an attack so Ironclad can't make it cheaper with like Stampede or Unrelenting so it has no other synergies

[Bravely Default] Man. Rampart is such a completely busted ability. It's honestly hilarious how good it is compared to every other defensive ability in the game

"On opiates" I have been thinking a lot over the years about the unhealthy roles games play in people's lives, and the last week got me to finally put together this post on the kind of work I am doing (and not doing) going forward. I am here to heal and strengthen. www.patreon.com/pattheflip/p...

First, some admin: My work has escaped containment over the last week, and I fully expect some lingering haters to stop by from time to time

Very funny to me that I've seen people who play StS2 complaining about sometimes having to rest at bonfires, because it "feels bad" to not be able to upgrade I'm not talking about just some weirdo either. A nontrivial amount of people. It's bizarre

I don't really understand the point of "I do not post anything 18+ but still don't want minors in my profile" Like, IF you post 18+ stuff sure, but otherwise. Why is there this generalized... fear? dislike? of kids and teenagers

[Slay the Spire 2] Oh wow I thought I was doing SUPER well, taking every elite fight, absolutely killing it, and then I sorta died to the mites. I got overconfident

Playing Bravely Default and Pokemon has me thinking about... how would I even call them? Multiplayer-lite features? Things you can do with your friends without having to schedule a full session to play the game together. It's fun! I'm sad it seems to be mostly limited to handheld games.

I am definitely not the target audience so this isn't meant as real criticism, it's just very funny to me when Steam store descriptions for indie games say something like "Fight deadly monsters" Like wow, you fight monsters in this game? Truly innovative stuff

I really love games with combat systems that challenge you to "break" them like Bravely Default or Disgaea But I find that I usually need a proper, gentle introduction to the systems before I get to the breaking part. Otherwise it's just not very satisfying
