Last week was Business Week at Emma's Place! On Monday the teens learned about entrepreneurship, teamed up, and came up with ideas for their businesses. On Tuesday they made plans and went shopping for supplies, on Wednesday they prepared their products, and Thursday was the Business Fair!

Thank you to our friends from the Hennepin Avenue UMC's UWF for teaching a cooking class last week on making macaroni and cheese from scratch! This class was so popular that we finished cooking and clean up almost an hour earlier than scheduled! Many hands make both light work and tasty food!

Thank you to the Chapel Choir from Downers Grove First UMC for coming to visit us last week! In the morning the choir took a tour of Restoring Waters, then helped us with sorting donations and in the afternoon they put on a free choir concert for our residents and our neighbors at Marvella!

We wanted to share a few highlight pictures from our Juneteenth and Graduation party we held at Emma's Place earlier this month! The whole community came together for grilling, games, face painting, balloon animals, and celebrating the academic achievements of the kids and youth in the community!

Today we have bittersweet news to share. Our Executive Director, Tonya Brownlow, will be departing Emma Norton after 12 years of leadership. Since 2014 Tonya has guided this organization through a period of remarkable growth and transformation. Her impact is woven into every part of who we are today

Last month our Executive Director Tonya and Advancement Director Shawna attended the United Women in Faith’s National Assembly and presented on Restoring Waters and the Living Room. It was wonderful to connect with women leaders from around the country (and Globe!) looking to create positive change!

We were so proud to be one of the many mental health and recovery resources at the Just Hope Hot Rods for Hope event last month! It was great to be a part of this combination fundraiser, car show, and fundraiser, and to have fun with the St. Paul recovery community!
