updog? What's updog? Nothing much, just datadog's open platform degradation analysis tool that lets you know when GitHub is lying about its own uptime. updog.ai
Turns out spending a long time building a clone of da vinci resolve is a good way to learn how da vinci resolve works.
running into that "smarter models are actually cheaper because they get the task done faster" problem again. Let my claude subscription run out in favor of an OpenRouter credit limit with various cheaper models.

I don't understand why some very popular software is not both good and open source. Maybe the private plugin market is just so thick now that no one has an incentive to change the status quo. There should be a good free Davinci Resolve color grading competitor. There should be a good free capcut.

Using one of those local whisper flow alternatives and really liking it. Super uncomfortable with the cloud transcription options. Local ones are a bit worse, but not meaningfully. Using OpenWhispr with the local-only NVIDIA model.
published my blog to standard.site finally. Big fan of new-generation RSS. You can browse here and I'm sure other places but I don't know where pdsls.dev/at://did:plc...

Some part of me is a little sad to see the state and optics of the industry I work in because I would genuinely do this for no money. I did do this for money. I'm a terrible nerd about the lot of this and each day surprised everyone else isn't.
I've been looking into atproto stuff a lot more recently and am becoming convinced in its lack of utility. Which is sad, I suppose. It's all very cool.
Do people ever find text wrapping for code preferable? So many sites and tools have this on as a default. I give up attempting to read it quite quickly.
@tangled.org really needs a design rework. It looks straight out of 2013. Silly, but probably the main blocker for me at the moment. I'd move some repos over otherwise.
Kind of insane: integrityindex.us does not show up on Google and Gemini refuses to acknowledge it is a working or legit or existing website. ChatGPT and Bing get it immediately. I think Google is forcibly down ranking it?

Made wat-docs.emnudge.dev I don't know of another WASM docs website, which is very strange. You basically just have specifications, some written in LaTeX for some reason. MDN's guide is probably the closest you get developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W...

I vibecoded a thing I think is mildly impressive github.com/EmNudge/wat-... Pure WAT implementation of FFT. Benchmarked against best-in-class alternatives which is either beats or is at parity with.

Most under-looked skill of great programmers: writing Echoes some recent thoughts I hear from @oxide.computer - some of the best programmers I've worked with are excellent at communicating. Getting good at this is a great boon to your career. Writing has helped me better express myself.

It feels obvious since that's kind of why they exist, but LLMs are awesome for language learning. A missing piece for me is getting ChatGPT or Gemini level voice chat offline. There are dozens of ollama clients for the non-multi-modal LLMs. Would be awesome to get this for voice.
I would love recruiters and hiring managers to stop saying they were "impressed by my background" when they just mean I worked at a company they like. There is nothing impressive about this. You sound silly. My work outside of my employment is publicly visible. Be impressed by my rants.
I kind of don't like how obvious it was that the copy for this readme was written by an LLM github.com/block/goose The website also seems to have a ton of LLM copy - which is fine, I guess. I just know that someone is going to go "Surprise! Even this was an LLM!" as if it wasn't already apparent.
I saw something at work that surprised me. Large design documents, complicated product specs, slack threads and channels - all around Project Geppetto. ...[rest below] emnudge.dev/notes/naming...
