Being the only music teacher in a building can get a bit lonely. Classroom teachers get teaching, but it's different setting ~25 students all day vs the entire school for an hour at a time each week. And I'm fairly lucky to have that!

Thought I could have two consecutive years where my general classroom setup would remain the same. Fire Marshall came in, told the district I need to turn the students to face the opposite way to see a visual fire alarm. Which is where the ukuleles hang. Practice at 5:30, games at 6 and 8. My car is filled with McDonald's litter and the passenger seat is caked in Diamond Dry from a ten year old that lost by one run an hour after bedtime. Welcome to summer ball for four kids. (Except that, with snow days, there's still school tomorrow.)

I *finally* read @katebeaton.bsky.social 's Ducks. The mix of reality and levity, of a two-year span told one gag-per-page at a time, was exactly my pace. Lots to chew on, a great story worth telling.

But, I mean, *must* one imagine Sisyphus happy? Asking for a friend, of course.

Late school year burnout is real. But! My first year woodwinds just played a song I didn't think they were ready for with, like, dynamics! And rests! I'm really proud of this crew.
