A couple weeks back we got to do a round robin play at @avcon.org.au during its Afterdark section. We were worried that no one would want to play it but we had continuous people playing for the whole section and they loved it and it got a lot of laughs from the audience.

Excited to be featured in a piece about marketing games. TL;DR: it’s hard! But there are creative ways to go about it www.startupdaily.net/after-hours/... #indiegames #gamedev thanks @harrisonpolites.bsky.social
How Australian devs are rethinking game marketing
Promoting a video game is as much about creative game marketing as it is about design. Harrison Polites from Infinite Lives explains:

After what feels forever stuck below it, our game finally hit 4K wishlists! Admittedly we have slowed down on talking about it but hoo boy it’s good to be over that milestone #indiegames #gamedev
Dan's making enemies! Here is Split Head in both concept and final, a different version of the Exorcist Bed enemy. He's all turret, no filler, 100% body horror. What do you think? #indiegames #bodyhorror
OK so Dan lost a file - er, *iterated on this enemy and made him better! When attacked he deploys his human shield and can't be hurt from the front. And now his brain is exposed at the back so you have a reason to roll behind him to attack. Cool new gameplay options! #indiegamedev #indiegames
New room! This is the Forest of Nightmares, inspired by a classic video game which was a leader in gore. Can you guess which game?! #indiegames #retrogames
No idea how this happened (probably an AI hallucination built into web content), but our studio has been misattributed to this game. Anyone who knows Ember would know this isn’t our game though, haha. So weird
Oof, has it been a fortnight already?! SAGE 2026 was epic: thanks so much to the SAFC for putting on another great show. As always we love showing folks the game, and it was great to be a part of this amazing gamedev community in South Australia. Until next time! @safc #indiegames #indiegamedev
Huge news! End of Ember has been optioned for development into an animated TV series, in partnership with Cosmic Scream. (Pssst... Netflix!) See our press release for more details. #indiegames #tv #adaptation #netflix
Those 2016 throwbacks are so last week! Here is an original 'devil' concept Dan drew in Grade 5 (circa 1998), and a boss concept he did just recently. Satan, now known as Gary, is in an office politics nightmare after a hostile takeover from Heaven. Performance Review ahoy! #indiegames #indiegamedev
We are SO excited to exhibit at SAGE next week. If you're in Adelaide, come along to check out our booth, and all the other amazing games being made in SA right now. It's a very exciting time to be an indie in this industry right now: come celebrate! Thanks @safc #indiegames # indiegamedev #sagames
In an OUTRAGEOUS and SHOCKING act of pure PLAGIARISM, this rad comic totally STOLE OUR IDEA of having a possessed girl strapped to a bed. BOYCOTT! #indiegames #indiedev #comics #art #theexorcist
Art update! Here is Timbsbly, a new enemy type. He will replace the boring old floating heads in the game, which was the first enemy Dan ever made. It is a modular enemy type, so he can take various forms with different looks (shown, along with the gore layers), behaviours and attacks. Cute/weird!
New year, new enemy! Meet the Spider Birther: it spawns little spiders every time you damage it. This animation test shows the procedural animation that Dan is using for spider enemies. Creepy! #indiegames #indiegamedev #horrorgames
New build, free on Steam Playtest! New feature? SWAPPABLE WEAPONS, baby! Instead of having just items, Ember can now carry up to two weapons with unique projectile types, that then synergises with items and upgrades to make the crazy kinds of build the game is getting known for. #indiegames
Ok folks this is not a drill: look at that schedule for Sunday! Ember played in a chainsaw?!?!? Cannot wait for this
Join me this week for more Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time and for a special look at End of Ember with a Chainsaw controller! @endofember.bsky.social
