Finally getting around to watching my birthday present - John Boormans incredible #Excalibur restored & in 4k. It looks absolutely amazing. I love this film and it's like watching it for the first time again. @arrowvideo.bsky.social
Come On Pilgrim ('87) Surfer Rosa ('88) Doolittle ('89) or Blue Lines ('91) Protection ('94) Mezzanine ('98) Lots of bands & artists had great runs but I can't think of any others that scaled these heights three times in a row and then never got anywhere close to that level again.
What's the best three album run from a band? (the correct answer is Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure by Rush, but I'm excited to learn second place)
Watched The NeverEnding Story with my youngest. Such a joy.
We rightly point out how stupid this is and why addressing the cause is what will fix it yet we insist toddlers wear hi-vis to protect them from careless drivers in oversized SUVs. We are as bad as the US where child safety is concerned.
Further proof that America will do *anything*, no matter how embarrassing, to avoid dealing with the real reasons children get shot in schools.
The cliff walk out by White Strand (nr Miltown Malbay) is lovely. There are a couple of narrow stone gates but other than that it is very easy going.
Hard to beat the auld Cliffs Of Moher cruise. Bit of a swell today but sure that's all part of it. Great roar on the pier too when everyone realised #Mayo had won.
It's always something external with motorists (the speed limit, the road surface, nowhere legal to park, the sun etc) but then individual for pedestrians & cyclists (why are you so far out from the kerb? Why aren't you wearing hi-vis? Why can't you just walk around my car etc)
I was thinking about that speed camera in Kilkenny last night where it goes from 100 to 80 and big Jim saying they may have insufficient time for the change. 100 to 80 isn't that much, there's two areas in Cork I know of that are 100 to 60 and when I do have to drive I never have an issue slowing.
Every time Sandwich disappears home right when it's their round.
Just booked my ticket for #Manhunter in the Light House in September. My favourite film and I've never seen it on the big screen. Oh my god.
If youre in #Ennistymon be sure and pop into Michelle in the new Keane's Cafe on Parliament St - they've had a tough time since opening as the street is closed for roadworks. My daughter assures me they do a mean iced coffee. #Clare #Holidays #Burren
Limited supply of DVDs in the mobile but luckily I have the choice of Timothy Dalton in Licence To Kill or Timothy Dalton in Hot Fuzz. (Need to bring down Flash Gordon)
“The Day Lady Died” by Frank O’Hara — Billie Holiday, who died on July 17, 1959: "and I am sweating a lot by now and thinking of leaning on the john door in the 5 SPOT while she whispered a song along the keyboard to Mal Waldron and everyone and I stopped breathing"
Watching Raiders of the Lost Ark for the thousandth time and just noticed how much laughing there is in it. The Himalayan bar scene, the cafe in Cairo, the lads on the boat, Pat Roach, Belloq, Toht & Salah all the time. #BringBackLaughing #IndianaJones
An old shopping cart, a bit of duct tape and a few bungee cords. The perfect beach buddy.
I expected to learn a lot of history during my two weeks in Limerick but I also found a lot of music and fun. (3 min read + photos, video) open.substack.com/pub/vibrants...

Well that's a first. Got repeatedly beeped for not driving fast enough - on New Street!! Driver even got out at the next stop to say they 'weren't beeping me per se, they just wanted me to speed up for the lights' Completely insane but completely OK with their own logic. #VisionZeroMyEye #Limerick
As a Limerick man who spends most of his holidays in Clare I wholeheartedly agree that Kerry in the sun is the best place on earth.
There are few beaches as beautiful as Clogher Strand on the Dingle Peninsula. I just love the view across to Inis Tuaisceart — better known as The Sleeping Giant, or as the less whimsical An Fear Marbh - The Dead Man, in Irish. #Ireland #SpéirGhorm #WildAtlanticWay #DiscoverIreland
