Apropos to nothing: so disappointed to belatedly learn that Apple TV+ pulled its funding for Sofia Coppola's adaptation of Edith Wharton's The Custom of the Country. I'll file that one with Todd Haynes' doomed biopic of Peggy Lee as 'abandoned projects I would've loved to see'.

Double book launch! Graveyard Gothic (Manchester UP) and Jane Austen and Vampires (Palgrave). Join as the Tavern at Flinders Uni for some food, drink, and conversation. Wed 10 April, 5.30-7pm The Tavern, Student Hub, Bedford Park Campus Registration: trybooking.com/CQBZK

Picked up these lovelies at Adelaide Booksellers. The Grenadillo Box is, in part, a fictionalisation of Lord Montfort's suicide in 1755. Suicide also features prominently in Sarah Siddons' great career. And a lot of these Victorian love stories end... well, you know.
