Tried some of the lower tier AI models, e.g. DeepSeek, and came away feeling unimpressed.

Today's win was finding a student-run legal service that will review privacy policy and return policy for me!
What do Canadian apps/services do about serving customers in Quebec and meeting their consumer protection and french language rules?? Any first hand experience with navigating that?
I am continuing to hack away on @stampgood.com and one of the hardest things going into the later summer and fall is going to be figuring out marketing!
The challenge of not adding more fun features to a project and doing boring repetitive edge case testing is real!
Chased down a software bug related to network latency today that I assumed was me (and my bad code), turns out if was a regression somewhere in my npm packages. This is what I get for yolo updating my package.json versions!
I am very happily using @rwsdk.bsky.social to build @stampgood.com
I am up to my elbows in the Cloudflare ecosystem and deeply impressed. But wow is there a lot there.
I am working on an idea to increase social connection using actual mail. Mail delivered to your real physical mailbox that you can touch, hold and read. Analog. Real. Personal. Snails. 🐌💌
Alright I am gonna try this social media thing again because I am excited about an idea I am hacking on. The basic premise is to increase social connection and raise money for charity at the same time. Using snail mail. Like real actual mail that comes to a physical mailbox. Old school and analog.
Been enjoying this: github.com/redwoodjs/sdk Check out what the Redwood team has been up to!
I’m back to coding for fun! Feels good! Hacked out a basic game with PixiJS and wrapping my head around the new @redwoodjs.com SDK. Loving both of these!
Anyone got any learn to type recommendations? 10 year old. Hard to find something not crammed with ads. Not adverse to a one time purchase.
I am over engineering a simple colouring website. It’s for my kids. (And other kids too). And it’s fun. www.rainbowblocks.art

Fun with blocks. Fun that rocks. A simpler coloring site for kids, adults, and aliens. Have fun. Be playful.

Trying my hand at game development with my son using @godotengine.org Game is “Fart Master Blaster” 🤣💨
Updated my site to Astro v5 and the new content loaders api. Reasonably painless. Got one small bug in my RSS feed to sort out.
I wrapped 2024 with one last blog post. One more than last year which is mini-win! Looking at using Sanity + Next.js for simpler content searching. www.erichowey.dev/writing/sear...
Yeah so Alberta is a funny place for weather. Last weekend rode my bike a ton. This weekend an absolute mountain of snow and cross country skiing. Went from bike season to ski season overnight.
So I am in the process of testing and fine tuning my last freelance project of the year. Love this stage!
The snow is holding off here in Western Canada meaning biking season is strangely still continuing…
This was my silly side project I made mostly for my own kids. It was fun! www.rainbowblocks.art

Got in probably the last MTB ride of the season today. Also my first big ride since injury in August. Felt good.
Tonight's project: year end accounting for the business. Yuck. But it is all done and with the accountant now. Next stop, tax bills.
The last blog post I penned was a bit philosophical reflecting on the impacts of AI on web dev. erichowey.dev/writing/the-...
