Does anyone here know if Texas makes school level attendance measures available through PEIMS? We aren’t finding the longitudinal data we are interested in. We have an email and a call out to TEA but hoping to get some answers sooner if possible.

Proof of life this summer! Writing my day away from my favorite local coffee shop. Almost finished with a grant proposal that’s due soon 🤞🏽Have a great week, y’all!
I spent the afternoon with education reporters as part of an EWA pre-conference session. Our panel focused on how factors outside of school shape students’ experiences and influence what happens inside schools, a topic my students know I can talk about endlessly.

Presenting coauthored work on truancy this afternoon. We use a pretty cool dataset to explore questions related to habitual truancy and the courts. Stop by our session to learn more! #AEFP2026
I chaired an awesome session on understanding + responding to student absenteeism this morning. The panel highlighted findings from qual + quant studies from 5 states, underscoring the role of policy + practice, sense making + discretion, and the need for resources in promoting attendance #AEFP2026
So excited to get #AEFP2026 started! Session tip: introduce yourself when you ask questions during the Q&A. This is a friendly conference! We're always happy to meet new folks here to learn about the latest in #EdResearch.

Worked from a new coffee shop in Ardmore today. Nice vibes for morning meetings and afternoon data cleaning. It was a little on the colder side so I’ll be sure to bring a shawl next time. #CoffeeShopChronicles
Does any Mac user (that has Excel) ever want to open their csv file with Numbers?! No matter how many times I set the default to Excel, the file still opens in Numbers 🤷🏽♀️
6 am school wake up and the first thing my 8 year old son said was, “did the justices win the election? did they keep their seats?” referring to Donohue, Dougherty, and Wecht in PA. He was over the moon about it. “Yay we won!”. Then we had a mini lesson on federal, state, and local government.
Really excited about how my research agenda on truancy has taken off. I'm this year's keynote speaker for the Becca Conference which brings together education, justice, and community experts to expand best practices on engaging and supporting youth and families in crises (including truancy).
