IRS tells me they lost my check and to call them. Great, but the phone tree AI hangs up on me when I ask to speak with someone. Apparently there's nobody at the IRS anymore to take calls. But hey don't be late filing or else we'll fine you a bajillion dollars. Lmao

the win10 explorer context menu was totally fine, you could extend it as a developer by adding one registry key. now in win11 you need to define some com interface and get your app packaged in a certain way and signed by M$ because apparently the old menu was too bloated. WHY, microsoft???

I love using my social media feed as a command pasteboard so I don't forget gems such as rsync -rptxAWh --partial --info=progress2 -v -n <src> <dst> For context, I needed to transfer Docker appdata from two servers while showing overall progress and preserving permissions/ownership

Tim Sweeney is such a dumbass loser. I don't want to buy low-effort AI asset flip junk, and if Epic is going to hide that from consumers then what thought process leads to "yes we are just as good as Steam and surely people will shop with us" mp1st.com/news/epic-ce...

apple music app on Windows can't handle audio devices being hotplugged. you have to literally restart the app or else it will refuse to continue playing or play another track. did nobody test the app before shipping??

Out of the blue Firefox warns me about this and sure enough, it's fucking Edge again. I've never opened it so presumably this was a silent setting revert update. Trust Microsoft to respect your choices my arse. This is actively malicious and makes computing frustrating. How is this legal again?

Screenshot with multiple windows and a notification. On the bottom right, there is a notification that reads "Keep using Firefox? Your default browser was recently changed. Tap to restore Firefox to default" with the options "Yes" and "No".

The foreground window is the Windows Settings app, opened to Apps > Default Apps > Firefox. On the top, there is an option to "Make Firefox your default browser". Underneath is a list of file associations where Microsoft Edge is set as the default.

The background window is Firefox and a dialog says "Make Firefox your default browser? Get speed, safety, and privacy every time you browse." with the options "Set as default browser" and "Not now"

Steam Deck recorded a scene transition for the entire 2 hours of the background game recording. Managed to 100% a game and nothing got captured :/ Tried checking the stream chunks in desktop mode and it seems like it stopped recording a couple of seconds after launching.

Windows should show a "you're about to be scammed" warning if a user blindly follows instructions and tries to paste to the Windows+R run dialog

Time of year again where Apple Music asks me if I’m over 18 to listen to explicit tracks (Korean law). But this time my HomePod Mini has stopped playing them altogether even after verification. Very frustrating

Amber alerts really be like "yes I expect you to drop everything and go look for a car, driven by someone that has just abducted a child and could be dangerous" lol

Moving passkeys across password managers isn't supported right now, but I can at least look for `fido2Credentials:` in my BW export. Passkeys suck so much it's not even funny

Bought a new iPhone for my dad and the Signal transfer took longer than the entire iPhone transfer. We had to wait in the store for hours. How come it isn't part of the iPhone transfer? I get not wanting to keep app data on iCloud, but we used a wire transfer and I think that's secure enough.

Received a phishing email that hosts the form on Cloudflare R2. Submitted an abuse report and got an automated reject because it couldn't recognize the fact that the phishing form is generated first by a proxy URL. Replied with more details and got rebuffed by another automated page. WTF, Cloudflare
