If I am removed from this earth by a nor'easter, please know that yesterday's sunset was so spectacular, I won't even be mad.

I hadn't planned on doing more than the usual storm prep, then a friend texted a "So how badly do you think you're gonna get walloped," and now my hind brain thinks I should have minimum 18 loaves of bread on hand *and* a fallout shelter.

Real mistake to not have chosen a mossy hut in the deep woods lifestyle, tbh.

When the judges for the National Book Awards were announced I remember specifically thinking, "Oh! There are going to be some VERY interesting picks this year!" I was right. Awards are part of the discovery process, and *that's* part of why we hope for them.

A phrase I've written multiple times in the past 24 hours: "An oubliette for my haters."

I'm closing in on my run 1,000+ miles this year goal. In theory I have to stop thinking of myself as lazy. In practice I'm just gonna stretch my definition of lazy so that it still fits me. ☺️

It occurs to me that when I go all in for a book it is NOT SUBTLE and it also possibly moves a copy or two. And yet I lack the ability to do that for my own work, which I obviously feel just as strongly about. 🫠

Rachel is correct. This is one of very few books I've contemplated cold pitching to outlets for coverage, despite not being a publicist. I have pressed it into people's hands. It is *important* not just for understanding suicidality, but for understanding our society and each other.

Surely I can accomplish everything on 3 hours of sleep.

Not to be grossly sincere on main, but: I never thought I'd be in a place where I'd get to read early drafts of my favorite writers' books (you know who you are, I hope). It's a weird, slow, and long career, but it's full of wonders.

Update: "Onding" is an excellent word, and far beyond what I should have attempted in my handwriting.
