Global South #architecture gets called “chaotic” by people who have never had to watch informal systems patch the holes left by absent infrastructure. 🤷♀️

People who blame “modern #architecture” for every social ill flatten a century of conflict into one bad render. #Modernism has been diluted, commodified, institutionalised, and bent around the interests of developers, patrons, governments and capital. Architects are not gnostic, all-powerful beings.
#HotTake, but it's quite interesting how #architecture, with its human environments tends to be an endoskeleton within pop culture. It's not often treated as the subject, yet it shapes every scene, movement & fantasy of how people live.
Mandelnexus Center began as a hand-built modular study: each component was drawn from a 3D visualisation of the #Mandelbrot Cube equation, then translated into physical pieces, joints, voids and frames. #Architecture here became something you can assemble, rearrange and #inhabit.
We talk about modernism as if it only wanted efficiency, repetition, and the clean machine. But #BrunoTaut Alpine #Architecture imagined something far stranger: glass cities, crystal temples, bridges across ravines, mountains reshaped into collective works of art. #ArchitecturalHistory
Sketches from a time when I let public space be a little more openly magical. #Architecture needs moments of honest optimism and whimsy. Not denial, but a belief that ordinary life can be gentler, stranger & more beautiful. We are taught to outgrow that #hope. Yet the work needs it.
Made these two stylized renders for fun. Hyperrealism and Corporate Memphis-style graphics can make architectural visualization feel weirdly narrow. A render does not have to pass as a photograph or sell a lifestyle. It can be a drawing, a mood, a small argument about space. #archiviz
Old studio fragments: school spaces imagined through light, movement, thresholds, and little human figures. Still learning how to make #architecture feel inhabited before it exists.
Kandinsky-inspired spatial studies from my old architecture sketchbook. Trying to turn rhythm, tension, diagonals, and primary colors into architectural space — somewhere between composition, city, and little abstract machine.
Spectacle in architecture is seductive, especially iconic spaces made by starchitects. But architecture’s heart often is in the layered, organic city: housing, streets, shade, thresholds & public space. Not the rare object - the background that lets people live. some sketches thinking through it 🌿
Do you miss it, the time when the skies were gray, but yet so vivid?
Hi, I’m Eris, an architect, writer, and absurdist city ghost. I post about architecture, memory, poetry, travel, and trying to build a life that feels survivable and real. 🌙
doing a case study on core apertures and light of Bait ur Rouf, Bangladesh. looks pretty funky \(^_^)/
This article by Ricardo Sosa really changed my perspective on the #ideation process in design and architecture. I'd recommend checking it out! www.researchgate.net/publication/...
