if one summer I started to see bioluminescent jellyfish where I'd never seen them before, I might want to know what was altering the marine ecology, whether something was going wrong. But I wouldn't necessarily expect to find out the answer from the immanent floaty glowers themselves

spent the day yesterday in moderately frustrating queer as well as religious spaces, not speaking very directly about events, but I think it's not the moment to fall away from one another. what I find is that people vanish, they become unreachable, and it's hard to see who it might be happening to.

overall if someone is unkind or outrageous or consistently brings out the worst in you, it's not necessary to attend to what they are doing every single day. social media makes this hard to remember, and so does a culture in which there is a lot of emphasis on keeping oneself in circulation

Life metal. Not-too-careful riffing on the outro to Meshuggah’s Straws Pulled at Random. Otherwise their vocals and imagery and overall message (as far as I can make it out) get in the way of the music for me.

having a little get-together at a bar in neukölln tonight, to celebrate my partner's dissertation being finished, and a belated birthday for myself. in case you only see this here and you'd like to come, write me for details

I wish Mbappé and Haaland could both have won the cup, or faced off for it. Was that ever possible? Either way, both are winners to me. Seems logical at this point to throw our support behind Spain.
