And for the really bad news? They've put a target on VPNs. Sites are required to identify (and age-verify) any US citizen, regardless of whether they're using a VPN. In fact, the default is to get the ID and biometrics of EVERYONE unless you can somehow prove their not a US citizen.

"VPNs are a privacy and security tool used by millions of internet users every day, and their use should not be treated as suspect. It is particularly galling that the SCREEN Act forces users who intentionally take steps to protect their privacy to identify themselves."

The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.

(3) COVERED PLATFORM.— The term "covered platform" -
(A) means an entity -
(i) that is an interactive computer service;
(ii) that-
(I) is engaged in interstate or foreign commerce;
or
(Il) purposefully avails itself of the United States
market or a portion thereof; and
(iïi) for which it is in the regular course of the trade or
business of the entity to create, host, or make available content that meets the definition of harmful to minors under paragraph (4) and that is provided by the entity, a user, or other intration conten provider, with

I know you guys are probably fatigued from there always being a crisis to care about of this exact nature, but that is literally the point. They are trying to exhaust you and beat you into submission. Please keep caring and calling your reps, when you have the time and energy!

It’s still disability pride month if anyone wants to help a friend out! I have a TikTok that explains the situation more (it refuses to upload here) You can find it at either link below ⬇️ www.instagram.com/reel/Da83S7m... www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8tQh3tG/

Art piece I did to help promote @estrelladeishtar.bsky.social 's gofundme! They are a disabled, queer artist living in Texas and raising money to escape an abusive situation. Read more on the gofund me 👇👇👇 gofund.me/c57a577c0 #art #noai #queerart #disabilitypride

Art of @/estrelladeishtar 's OC, Ishtar. A human-alien hybrid space witch. They are laying on their side in starry water with a full moon behind them, framed by their glowing alien tail and fins. They're wearing a witch hat and black body suit performance attire with lots of neon colors, gold accents, and glowing markings on their forehead, chest, and thigh. In the foreground, their finger is pointed at the center of a rippling celestial light underneath the water.

When disability happens to you, you won’t be able to just “try harder”. The social supports you think magically appear? They won’t show up. The medical system will let you down. Friends & family will abandon you. You will realize disability advocates were right all along.

I want companies that have profited from contracts with ICE to go out of business. I want companies that have gone all in on AI to go out of business. I want companies that cause nationwide diarrhea outbreaks to go out of business. I want companies that give money to fascists to go out of business.

🌟 it’s my birthday 🌟 If it’s okay, may I please have some reposts on my art? ;w; I’ve compiled some of my favorite drawings I’ve done for others. Some old, some recent.

I hope those load bearing followers know how much they mean to artists. Regulars, esp regular commenters that engage your work and story do not go without notice and are to be cherished. It's esp why I try to reply to let them know! (and why I wish I could keep track of any I've missed replying to )

Fun story and potential tip for artists: find a load boarding follower or two. When my account was brand new and less than 10 people knew I existed I had one follower who would like almost every piece I made. I appreciated his support so much that my partner knew his screenname- 🧵

Bonkers that Bluesky is doing this. The Texas law does NOT require individual apps like Bluesky to verify age, let alone collect documentation. The law requires app stores — Google, Microsoft, Apple — to verify age independently and to communicate to apps to prevent minor access.

NEW: Bluesky rolled out age verification to comply with Texas' new app store age verification law, which was allowed to go into effect last month by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. I wrote about it here: www.chron.com/culture/arti...
