My (somewhat but not really) relevant hot take: None of the Dems running for governor will earworm me with "I Think We're Alone Now" every time their name is mentioned so on that point alone they are all better than the GOP alternative

Completely irrelevant hot take for today: Hmm: expression of concern, uncertainty, or pause Hum: a continuous low sound, as in music Today's usage: "So I guess ONE OF US WILL BE RIGHT NEXT TUESDAY AND THE OTHER WILL BE AN IDIOT AND WE ALL KNOW WHICH ONE IS WHICH...hummmmm. 🤔..." No.

When my kid (who was perfectly average in speech development) was 2.5 I documented this conversation: "Where Mama hair?" Me: "Right here." (I point.) "Where Mama chin?" Me: "Here it is!" (I point.) "Where Mama solidarity?" Me: "Uh...." (He raises his fist.) 1/2

MAX MILLER: She's 2.5 years old. She doesn't have the ability to articulate what you just said. TAPPER: But you just told me that she said she was scared to go to mommy's house. Now you're saying she's not capable of saying "Daddy kill you"? MILLER: What about due process?

The daughter of a law school classmate ended up in the ICU in fall 2021, after getting covid from school. She was 7 and had no known health conditions, but was too young for the vaccine at that time. The school refused to implement any mitigations when the kids came back. (She's doing well now.)

People have been retrofitting in "the lockdowns were bad for my children!" and you know what else would have been bad for your children? Long COVID, for one, yeah, but also 'living the rest of their lives knowing they killed their grandparents.'

Folks my mentee has some of the best questions, ranging from “how do I get my name out there and build a niche for myself” to “how do we burn this character and fitness system that stigmatizes mental health and targets black, brown, and poor people to the ground” The kids* are all right

Googling "John Smith MD Milwaukee" up until a year ago got you his work page and contact information, LinkedIn, maybe an article they wrote or were featured in Googling "John Smith MD Milwaukee" now gets an AI summary where he might be a chiropractor and graphic novelist in Ohio Thanks, Google

Today is the 28th anniversary of my first marriage And the 8th anniversary of the time I used that as an icebreaker when I gave a presentation about dealing with jerks (sorry Vince)

Tuesday is breakfast-for-lunch day at work and I'm adapting the New York Times chocolate babka recipe and making a bonkers kiddie cereal babka. This will either be amazing or a complete disaster, there is no in between. Stay tuned?

“Advocate for your primary candidate instead of calling everyone who prefers a different candidate an idiot” challenge Bonus points: don’t mention AIPAC, they’re not involved in this race, you sound like the space laser lady when you do that

Conductor: “This is the quiet car, please stick to library voices, no phone or video calls, please use headphones if you’re listening to something Guy behind me: complaining on the phone (through his headphones) about how he’s in the quiet car and also isn’t allowed to drink alcohol

I am staying at a hotel that I stayed in in 2024 and as soon as I walked into a bathroom I remembered "oh this goddamned shower" It's one with an immovable half-door that will not allow me and my short arms to turn on the shower without standing in it and getting blasted with cold Why?

I attended an event at the State Bar center in Madison (but in a business park) and two people not affiliated with each other asked if I had taken the bus and were disappointed that I hadn't It was theoretically possible (Badger Bus to local A) but would have been an ordeal

I got divorced in 2005. I have not lived with my ex since 2004. We are both married to other people and live in different states. Why am I getting spammy/phishy calls for him on a phone number I got in 2010?

I have to do something that will take 20 minutes (and I need to do it tonight and then I don't need to do anything else today) and I have procrastinated way more than 20 minutes in getting this done why

“There are gay republicans? How does that work? Do they just shake hands all day or what?” — 16 learns of the Log Cabin Republicans and believes if they have to exist, they are all prudes

I'm going to a client party on Wednesday and there is a small-but-not-zero chance the bosses who fired me in 2010 when I was 8 months pregnant will be there. What should I say to them? I'll take right and wrong answers.

I have an in-person client meeting this afternoon and then a client call and tonight I am going to see @benwikler.bsky.social 's book talk and I out doing homeless outreach until 2 am last night and I was up at the normal time today for no reason and I am too old for this and yet

LawSky, particularly newer lawyers and law students: I have done informal mentoring to law students and new lawyers, but I will soon start as a mentor in a formal program. My mentee is a first-generation American and first-generation high school graduate who was recently admitted to practice. 1/

Greetings from the Street Angels south side outreach bus. Seriously fuck the following: * criminalizing homelessness * heroin * DOGE * “why are you paying for XYZ when we have homeless veterans” when you don’t do shit about homeless veterans * parents who aren’t safe for their queer kids
