Wastewater Integrated Surveillance for Public Health in Europe. An initiative coming from HADEA. An EU Joint Action committed to enhance Wastewater Surveillance. https://www.eu-wish.eu/

EU-WISH is launching a webinar series on technical knowledge of AMR monitoring in wastewater. Members of EU-WISH and EU-JAMRAI2 can deepen their expertise in culture-based and PCR-based workflows, while preparing the ground for hands-on training activities later this year. #EU_WISH #IDsky #Episky 🧪

The design shows two approaches: culture-based methods, represented by a petri dish with bacterial colonies, and PCR methods, shown with a pipette and microplate. A magnifying glass in the center displays bacteria, and logos of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment and the European Union are included.

A great opportunity for European wastewater surveillance systems to monitor Influenza more closely. Do our WWS systems for Influenza catch H5N1 when its abundant in wild birds? Or is the current rise in Influenza levels driven by mainly H3N2 and H1N1? #IDsky #episky 🧪

On the right, text reads “Breakout sessions: Prioritization” above an illustrated ranking bar chart labeled 1, 2, and 3 with an upward arrow. The design uses shades of blue, teal, orange, and purple.

AMR data from wastewater surveillance is still difficult to interpret. With the new UWWTD, AMR wastewater surveillance will come anyways. Thus, we need to identify targets with whom to accompany it to generate use cases. Maybe combination with STI monitoring could be a thing? #episky #watersky 🧪
