EU Delegation to the Council of Europe

@euatcoe.bsky.social

We serve as the permanent diplomatic representation of the European Union to the Council of Europe. We represent the interests of the EU and its 27 Member States in the Council of Europe (CoE) while joining forces with CoE bodies and institutions.

Russia's slowest territorial advance in 3 years (just a few sq km in May 2026) came alongside its most intense bombardment since March 2022: 8,351 strikes on Ukrainian cities. 274 civilians killed, 1,763 injured - the highest toll since April 2022. When Russia can't advance, it terrorises.

The Council has renewed the EU economic sanctions against Russia until 31 July 2027. These sanctions target Russia's financial, trade, energy, transport, technology and defence sectors, as well as services provided to Russia or to Russian nationals. 🔗 link.europa.eu/36RYPY

Now more than ever, the rule of law matters. It protects everyday life by ensuring fair rules & accountability – from home rentals to job contracts or public speech. As the rule of law comes under pressure, we must protect it to ensure people’s rights are respected. 🔗https://link.europa.eu/7MHF6T
