EURL-PH-DIPE is an EU funded nonprofitable project. The main objective of EURL-PH-DIPE is to support ECDC and the national reference laboratories to tackle diphtheria and pertussis in Europe.
A novel version of diphtOscan is available at gitlab.pasteur.fr/BEBP/diphtos.... v2.2.0 makes it easy to install on local computers. diphtOscan scans genomes and extracts information including #diphtheria toxin and antimicrobial resistance genes, biovar, species and subtyping information.
Today is Annual European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD). The EURL-PH-DIPE also wants to highlight the impact of prudent use of antibiotics, in control of antimicrobial resistance. Stay smart, do not take antibiotics without prescription!

Diphtheria is a vaccine preventable disease. Unfortunately it is still lethal, especially among vulnerable individuals as the latest outbreak study from Germany shows. (Euro Surveill.2025;30(27):pii= 2500116.). Act smart and take the vaccine to prevent diptheria.
