European Greens

@europeangreens.eu

💚We bring together Green parties from across Europe for a democratic, feminist, and sustainable Europe.

Our thoughts are with the first responders battling the consequences of the climate crisis and the all of the people whose lives are impacted by it. EU leaders should gather for an emergency meeting and put the climate crisis and its consequences at the top of the agenda.

The acts of one man, who was guided by bigoted, outdated, hateful ideologies, cannot stand in the way progress. Together with @gruene.de, our hearts are with the LGTBQI+ community in Berlin and the families of the people that were attacked.

A total of 254,388 hectares have been burnt in Europe (in particular in Spain, France and Italy) so far this year, which is roughly the size of Luxembourg. We applaud the courage of the rescue teams on the ground. We need to do more. We need climate action now.

😍🚌Our favourite activity while visiting a new country (ft. @ciarancuffe.bsky.social)🚌😍 Can you guess which city this is in? 👀 Here’s a clue: the Green party there has been protesting alongside the students for the past 1.5 years, against their corrupt government and President.

😱 A frequent flyer levy could raise 64 billion euros PER YEAR in Europe. Imagine if we could invest that much on cheap tickets & fast trains. It'd only affect the people flying more than 3 times a year (11% of the population). 🚝We need to make train travel easier & cheaper.

Graphic promoting rail travel in Europe. Large headline reads: "Travel by train this summer!" over a map of Europe with rail routes converging on Paris. The graphic compares estimated CO₂ emissions of train and plane travel from Paris to major European cities: London (8 kg vs 249 kg, 31× lower), Barcelona (8 kg vs 442 kg, 55×), Rome (14 kg vs 456 kg, 33×), Munich (16 kg vs 444 kg, 28×), Copenhagen (24 kg vs 409 kg, 17×), Vienna (25 kg vs 421 kg, 17×), Stockholm (28 kg vs 522 kg, 19×), Budapest (36 kg vs 508 kg, 14×), Lisbon (42 kg vs 598 kg, 14×), and Athens (258 kg vs 660 kg, 3×). Solar is the future! Spain has proven that it lowers electricity bills. Germany has proven that solar panels can be affordable for all. Poland has proven that we can move from coal to renewables! No more excuses, we need to invest in renewables, for the planet & our wallets.

Green infographic titled "Solar is Booming!" showing that solar power provided 25% of EU electricity in June 2026, the highest share recorded. A line chart compares monthly solar generation shares from 2016–2026, with the 2026 line peaking at 25%, above 2025 and all previous years. Source: Ember (2026). 3 heatwaves in Europe in 1 month. And this is only the beginning of summer, with more heatwaves, more droughts, more wildfires & more people suffering from the heat. So no, we don’t want beers and pools (unless they are public & free). We want strong European climate action.

Graphic with a dark green background featuring a screenshot of a Facebook post by Belgian politician Theo Francken (N-VA, European Conservatives and Reformists), identified by a label above the image. His post mocks concerns about extreme heat and encourages people to “Enjoy the beautiful weather.” Large white text below states: “THIS HEATWAVE INCREASED MORTALITY BY 49% IN BELGIUM.” The phrases “INCREASED MORTALITY BY 49%” and “1,747 PEOPLE” are highlighted in bright pink. The graphic concludes: “THAT’S 1,747 PEOPLE WHO DIED BECAUSE OF ‘BEAUTIFUL WEATHER’.” European Greens logo in the bottom right.Graphic with a dark green background. "La crisis climática ya no es una amenaza futura: está aquí. Y siempre golpea primero a quienes menos tienen. La transición ecológica no es solo una política ambiental. Es justicia social, democracia e independencia". 🗣 @vulatsetsi.bsky.social

Russia is relentless & the Olympic Committee’s decision to allow them into the competition is outrageous. The Olympics are for countries to compete peacefully & to overcome the horrors of war. We stand for Olympics that do not forget that & don't turn a blind eye to aggression.

As long as
Ukraine is
under attack,
Russia cannot
be allowed
to compete in
the olympics.

Fossil fuels are fuelling forest fires. Spain, Portugal and France are entering their 3rd heatwave in just 1 month. Wildfires are currently happening all over southern Europe. We need climate action now.

Graphic by the European Greens with the headline: “EUROPE IS BURNING. and fossil fuels are the reason.” A map of Europe shows the Copernicus Fire Weather Index, with the highest wildfire risk concentrated across Spain, Portugal, southern France, Italy and parts of the Balkans. Flame icons mark currently active wildfires across the Iberian Peninsula, France, Italy, the western Balkans and western Türkiye. A colour scale indicates fire weather risk from low (green) to very extreme (dark red). Source: Copernicus and EFFIS, 8 July 2026. WE MUST BAN FOSSIL FUELS.” The words “WE MUST BAN FOSSIL FUELS” appear in large yellow text over a green brushstroke background. At the bottom, viewers are invited to “Comment 🧯 to ban fossil fuels,” with an arrow pointing towards a speech bubble icon to encourage engagement. European Greens logo in the bottom right.

Heatwave ≠ 🍦👙⛱️ Heatwave = ⚠️🥵🔥 Projections say temperatures in England up to 45°C by 2056, imagine what that means for Spain or Portugal. We need immediate action to slow the climate crisis's progress. To all the politicians claiming ‘this is just summer’, shame on you.

Graphic by the European Greens. Large text at the top reads: "THIS WILL KEEP HAPPENING IF WE DON'T BAN FOSSIL FUELS." Below, a Reuters photograph shows children cooling off in a small inflatable paddling pool outside a school while a member of staff sprays water during hot weather. Overlaid is a The Guardian headline reading: "Hundreds of schools in England and Wales to close in heatwave." Large text at the top reads: "THIS WILL KEEP HAPPENING IF WE DON'T INVEST IN RENEWABLES." We join the voices of tens of thousands protesting loudly against the billionaires’ project to destroy nature and build a holiday resort.   We need to protect our nature, the home of 200+ bird species, flamingos and nesting ground for turtles.   #handsoffvjosanarta

Throughout the 16 years that Orbán was in power in Hungary, Greens supported those who were fighting back against his autocratic changes. 🌈We will continue to support our partners, including civil society, in Hungary, until democracy and the rule of law, is fully restored.

LGBTQI+ rights are not yet equal in Europe. In the UK, they are pushing back against trans rights. But last week, they banned conversion ‘therapy’ in the Netherlands. Progress may be slow but it is happening. And we will not stop fighting for the LGBTQI+ community.

Europe is red hot this week & we are seeing red. People are being killed by our government’s inaction in the face of extreme weather. It is preventable, but they refuse to what is necessary, ban fossil fuels & invest in renewables The power to demand change is in our hands.
