The EUSDR is a macro-regional strategy covers an area stretching from the Black Forest (Germany) to the Black Sea (Romania-Ukraine-Moldova) and is home to 115 million inhabitants. It addresses common challenges in the Danube Region.

On 27 June 2026, 15 Bulgarian municipalities along the Danube joined #RiverRemembers, launching biodegradable paper boats with messages of hope, peace and care for nature. Marking #DanubeDay2026 and 15 years of #EUSDR, the initiative celebrated the Danube as our shared future.

“Two Flags, One River” brought 220+ boats, an air show, fireworks and concerts to the Danube. Supported by public and private partners from RO and BG, the initiative highlighted the area's huge tourism potential and reminded everyone that the Danube connects more than shores, it connects people.
