The Eye in the Forest Photo taken with a 1994 MC Rubinar 300mm ƒ/4.5 Macro—one of the largest-aperture mirror lenses!

Around midnight, I sat on the couch to browse my phone for a bit before getting some work done. I didn’t plan to stay long, but then Misha climbed onto my lap. I felt so privileged that I stayed for two hours. 😆 How could I refuse that face?
Soft Echo Photo taken with a 1958–1965 Bell & Howell Super D Proval 2″ ƒ/1.4 projection lens.
Unfortunately the picture is out of focus, but I thought this was an amusing scene… Eiki is using Francis of Assisi—the patron saint of animals—for support. 🤭
Photo taken with a 1970 MOG Orestegon 29mm ƒ/2.8 with a reversed front element. This felt like the first time I made creative use of the exaggerated perspective of a wide-angle lens: just 2 cm of leaf in front of the pupa expanded to become an entire valley in this miniature landscape!
This is so strange. This woman managed to buy an automatic knitting machine from the ’80s for just $200, and it was only 10 minutes away from her. It came with the original manual, and the woman on the cover looks eerily like her! youtu.be/37ZUvB-lWGM?...
"A simple reminder that nature can create amazing visual moments without needing anything artificial—so we artificially produced the visual for illustrative purposes." Said without intended irony as well…
I enjoy the "BREAKING:" (as in breaking news) in this image. As if Roger Penrose formulated his Conformal Cyclic Cosmology model of the universe just last week, instead of EXACTLY two whole decades ago! (He presented the idea at the Perimeter Institute on September 12, 2006.)
Eiki trying to maintain his dignity during a thorough background check. 😆
Hibiscus Swirl (Cool Spring vs. Warm Spring) Photo taken with a 1954–1956 ISCO–Göttingen Kiptar 45mm ƒ/1.6 projection lens. The colors of the first version are true to life. Which version do you prefer?
Czech this out—I found dad’s chess magazines under his bed. 😆 (Not my dad’s; I found it listed on a Czech online marketplace)
Remember my therapist who encouraged me to consume fortune cookies for personal growth? Turns out my suspicions were justified. Not only does she run a Chinese restaurant on the side, but I’ve just learned that her husband is the CEO of a Fortune 500 fortune-cookie conglomerate!
This is the coolest and most autistic video I’ve seen in a long time: youtu.be/8jVogdTJESw?... A wonderful deep dive into something very technical (double pendulum motion), but it’s given clarity by the beautiful graphs that accompany the simulations. So satisfying to watch!

Are transphobes pretending to be logic-challenged, pretending to pretend, or are they actually? I honestly can’t tell.
My therapist runs a Chinese restaurant as a side gig, by the way. I’m starting to worry there may be a conflict of interest.
My therapist said the fortune cookies could be very important for my growth. So I’ve incorporated them into my treatment plan: conventional therapy every three weeks, and complementary fortune cookie therapy the other two.

I opened another Chinese fortune cookie. Its message was actually super wise! It encouraged me to order more Chinese food, because think of all the wisdom you can get at the end from all those cookies! I thought of going to therapy, but I think ordering Chinese is better value.
Aww the Copic Awards 2026 announced the finalists, and I didn’t make the cut. But I hope this pen illustration by MelliMellow wins the Copic Multiliner category at least! Such a cool idea. I would love to try this. Finalists: copicaward.com/winners/winn...
I’m sure you know Mensa, the high-IQ society for people who score in the top 2% on standardized intelligence tests. I created a society called Mensan’t, for people intelligent enough not to apply. We currently have 0 members, which speaks to our great intellect!
The irony is that not getting baited into taking this test in the first place is the true test of intelligence. Success stories: Thousands of PhD-level intellectuals have already passed without answering a single question.

I feel so exhausted every day; I keep waking up tired because I’m not getting enough sleep. But I’m glad I got some wisdom from a Chinese fortune cookie just now, which said I have enough energy and enthusiasm for two people! Two worryingly sleep-deprived people… 🤭
I’m calling this photo ‘Fat cat’, because… as you probably guessed, Eiki is wealthy and powerful—and pretty fat. Actually, he has perfect curves! Long focal-length lenses—like this MC Rubinar 300mm ƒ/4.5 I used—compress the background into a flat plane, which in this case makes Eiki look obese.
Here’s a polished version that keeps your gentle voice and eloquence, while improving clarity and flow: Fugg you, you pustulent, maggot-laced carousel of grief and shattered dreams of a world! Let me know if you want me to make it a bit more sharp and concise without losing the reflective ending.
Cyan Reverie Here is a photo taken with a 1950–1951 Meyer-Optik Görlitz Primoplan 58mm ƒ/1.9 that I’m really pleased with. Actually, it’s two photos combined: one photo shot wide open (2nd image) for the background, and one shot at ƒ/5.6 (3rd image) for the foreground elements.
Reluctant birthday boy We tried to make Misha the birthday boy. But it wasn’t his birthday—it was Mowgli’s! And Misha wasn’t about to steal Mowgli’s moment, not even when we tried to bribe him with a treat. 🤭
It was Mowgli’s birthday today. 2 years old! And Gimli tried to steal his little birthday hat. 😱
Anemone A new lens! Well, new for me. It’s in fact one of the oldest lenses I own now—a 1950–1951 Meyer-Optik Görlitz Primoplan 58mm ƒ/1.9.
Hibiscus Raindrop Reverie Photo taken with a 1977–1978 Fuji Fujinon 55mm ƒ/2.2 on a 25–55 mm helicoid. It was nice to photograph our Rose of Sharon in the morning after a gentle rainfall.
Ahh my name has finally been legally changed! 😃 It’s such a relief to finally see my proper name on documents and my bank and such.
