There was a concerted right wing attack on transgender rights, which leaked emails show, and which the Times will not report. But sure. It's "organic."

It’s impossible to overstate how openly Islamophobic many GOP voters I know have become. They are convinced that Mamdani and El-Sayed are posing as progressives to get in office and impose “Sharia law.” It’s completely unhinged but they view their fear as “rational” and “common sense.”

I've been watching some former conservatives I know get radicalized by the Bad Place to an extreme level - they now think that there is a huge threat that Islamists will take over the country, that Mamdani is an existential threat to the US, and that the DSA will turn us all into commies

Weird. I lived in one of America’s most diverse cities for 17 years and felt joy and amazement at being surrounded by terrific neighbors. Maybe Sohrab is doing it wrong.

Sanctuary cities are not "harboring illegal immigrants." They are making their cities safer, because when residents are afraid law enforcement will report them to ICE, they are less likely to report crimes.

Had someone argue with me today that a) the Chinese Exclusion Act wasn't racist; and b) America wasn't a country in the 100+ years when we didn't restrict immigration. Boy, white supremacy is a real head trip.
OK, but I live 40 minutes from Idaho and what works in Idaho absolutely would not work on the coasts... unless the coasts are down for creating a Christian nationalist separatist state.

I feel sick to my stomach waiting around to see what atrocity Trump has in mind for the people of Iran this evening. It's hard to fathom our other elected leaders aren't able to check him in any meaningful way. It's an indictment not just of voters but of our whole system. We're ruled by a mad king.

One important thing to note about this SOTU is that it's just a bad speech on top of everything. (Also, what is up with Trump's hair? I guess no one had the courage to tell him he had ablittle flag of hair poking up.)
I once coached a teacher who told his 4th graders they could make up statistics to put in their essays. So they would write something like, "According to friends dot com, 94% of kids like friends." Apparently, those kids grew up to work in the Trump administration.

DHS's repeated claim is that there is only chaos in MN because they aren't allowed "in the jails." Even that's a lie. Lies all the way down.

I know there will be a lot of video dissection and discussion of this morning's shooting. What I need the media to ask is why agents engaged a man who was peacefully filming them, and why they continued once he backed away.
He was filming and they engaged him; he backed away and they tackled him.

We alerted our neighbors. We fought them in the courts. And now they’re desperate, so they’re brutalizing us, without a hint of legitimate government purpose.
