Another point I would add to this, the post Jan 6 regrouping that seemed to take place in the media, and with a seeming momentum pushing tech companies in the right direction, now seems like another world. One very far away, and it doesn't feel like its coming back anytime soon, sadly..

People who fancy quoting the Melian Dialogue ("the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must") ignore the fact that Thucydides was clearly portraying this as the kind of hubris that squandered Athens' primacy and paved the way for a devastating peer war that it ultimately lost.

It takes 9 years on average for democracies to get off the global lists of “backsliding democracies,” one way of the other (either they are restored, or they collapse into autocracy, dictatorship, etc). By my count we are halfway through that average…

I held on to mine until very recently, mainly out of hope someone else would buy it and turn it back to what it once used to be. I genuinely miss the platform we once had. An excellent algorithm for following niche news destroyed and muddled with low IQ nonsensical trash and AI slop. Sad.

What X is allowing Grok to do is unlawful or regulatory-illegal in multiple jurisdictions, creates clear DSA violations, and continues despite regulator scrutiny. The images do not need to be pornographic, non-consensual sexualised or intimate depictions are enough.

Ashley St. Clair @stclairashley Just saw a photo that Grok produced of a child no older than four years old in which it took off her dress, put her in a bikini + added what is intended to be semen. ChatGPT does not do this. Gemini does not do this. Another girl who appears to be just 11 or 12 with a brain tumor, Grok removed her shirt completely. Stating that the people producing the prompts are the only ones responsible puts an undue burden on victims, most of which have no idea this is happening. This problem + exploitation of children could be fixed in a matter of minutes by the MechaHitler team.

A huge martyr for the transnational far right. Given his high profile I would be surprised in the slightest if pro-russian mil bloggers identify the FPV footage from his strike and circulate it for propaganda value.
