I haven't felt like doing much today, so I've mostly been puttering about the internet, watching far too many YouTube videos. I should be doing another round of dusting in the library/home office but we'll see if I get that done or not. Sometimes you just need to take a day off.

After two back-to-back DNFs, I started my third book of the month last night and quickly made it to the half-way point. At just over 200 pages, this one is fairly quick-paced, to the point where it feels like some things are happening a bit too fast, but at least I will finish this one.

A hand holds a copy of the book A Rancher's Brand of Justice by Ann Voss Peterson in front of a shelf full of books.

With all of the controversy from Sony/PlayStation about physical media this is a time when we really need to support our second hand shops with physical media immensely and do what we can to show that discs still matter and preservation/ownership still does and will matter. ❤️🙏🏻

Watched the movie The 100th Love With You and enjoyed it quite a bit. I love that JFF Theatre offers so many Japanese movies free to watch throughout the year, otherwise I would miss out on quite a few great movies. I may watch one more tonight as the time to watch it is quickly running out.

We were granted another smoke window of nearly smoke-free air this morning. Took the dog for a walk, took a load of dry grass and weeds to the dump, and we even had the house windows open for a brief time. It was great. Now the smoke is rolling in again.

We are in for another bout of extreme smoke for the next 48 hours or so. All plans, which essentially boils down to grocery shopping, have been cancelled. A ton of ash fell last night, which collected everywhere but was most visible on the shade cloth in the garden.

A wrinkled black shade cloth is coated in white and grey ash. There are some rocks and green plants in the background.

After 3 days of cool smoke-free weather, we are back to smoky skies. I am grateful for the small break from the smoke and the cooler weather helps to slow the spread of the fires nearby. I'll be spending some quality time with my books and video games today.

There's been a positive shift in the weather, as it's now cool and cloudy with little wind and a small chance of rain. This will help with the wildfires near us. Since the air is smoke-free we're focusing on knocking out as much outside work as we can.

We enjoyed a few hours of smoke free air this morning, allowing us to hit up a few yard sales. Came home with a near complete set of Life Times Books The Wild West, only 3 books are missing. Plus I found a set of The Shorter Oxford Dictionary (1984), ironically I found a volume at each yard sale.

A stack of Time Life Books: The Wild West sits on a black shelf. The spines of the books are brown with gold lettering. There are 23 books. Two volumes of The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary sit on a black shelf. The Spines are black with silver lettering.

It's another hot and very smoky day. Thankfully, as an introvert, I am quite happy being "stuck at home". This is the perfect opportunity to work through some of my to-watch list of movies and shows. The only real challenge is picking what to watch first.

I spent all of yesterday reading. I read the entirety of Arrows of the Queen by Mercedes Lackey. I then started to reread Wraith and the Revolution by A.J. Calvin, which I started last year but I was in a reading slump (no fault of this book) so set it to the side and forgot about it until now.

It's another hot and smoky day, so I did the only logical thing I could think of upon waking, I baked a cake. I figure if I'm going to be stuck indoors all day I might as well make myself a tasty treat. Now I need to figure out what book to read.
