Just been sent these from my grandson working in San Francisco. No experience of US birding but is this an Acorn Woodpecker? 1:22 PM · Mar 1, 2026 · 1 View

Former WP birder now just garden and occasional local.
My grandson working in San Fransisco asked for ID on this. I think it's a Golden Eagle but I'm not familiar with US birds. Can anyone confirm please
Two Grey Wagtail in our garden this morning. @hertsbirds.bsky.social
Had at least 4 Great Spotted Woodpecker in view including at least 2 juveniles, they have been feeding all day, so could very well be more.
Managed to get a very brief visit to Stockers Lake this morning, no time for a circuit but found a male Teal in the south east corner, only the second or third I've found Teal on this site. @Hertsbirds
Two Grey Wagtails in our Watford garden this morning, flew off together. See a single every day but not often two together.
I have no birding highlights of 2024, but have enjoyed my garden birding. Happy New Year to all who see this.
GSW drumming in neighbours garden this morning and the first duck arrivals of this winter, two female and one male Mallard.
Garden first today! Missile Thrush. Came in, had a long energetic bath and off into our neighbours tree. First for the year also, not surprising as I can't travel these days.
Nuthatch feeding on the bird table today. First visit for many weeks. Strange to see it feeding in horizontal mode rather that the usual vertical. Also the Grey Wagtail is a daily visitor again now.
