Another unpopular opinion: there has never in history been a purely open or a purely closed border in any large scale society. The debate we’re having today in this country—as it commonly does—falls into a binary of absolutes on the issue. We need MONITORED borders not “open” or “closed.”

This post appeared on RFK’s instagram feed. The iconography of the video happened overlooked: definitively Christian fundamentalist. And supporter comments on the post bear out this interpretation. They get he’s posing as the “slayer of dragons” etc.

I just read that the guys who shot up the mosque in San Diego a couple of days ago were 17 and 18 years old. The parents of one owned TWENTY SIX guns. I’m seriously wondering where else on the planet this scenario is even conceivable.
