Ok, my foster dog is very sweet, but has some separation anxiety. He seems to do better in the crate when he can hear people talking. Are there YT channels or music playlists that actually help dogs with this?

Once I started feeling the anger of grief, I felt like I was seeing that reflected back at me almost everywhere I looked. I think a lot of folks are grieving a lot of different kinds of loss right now, and it’s seeping into everything.

I've been thinking a lot lately about a related phenomenon, which is a kind of emotional laundering--people experiencing distress somewhere in their life (god knows there's plenty of distress to be had) and funneling it into internet discourse, often to troubling effect.

tonight I applied to foster a dog that reminds me of my old dog (in a good way, I think?) and then I had some homemade brown butter soft serve to celebrate. It mostly just tasted cold, but I guess ya gotta start somewhere.

If there is a more user-hostile piece of enterprise software than AmexGBT, I have yet to find it

If you’ve had orthodontic work done (at any point!) do you still wear a retainer? I feel like this was not represented to me as something I would be doing for the rest of my life when I got my braces off at 13, but my dentist certainly seems to be expecting that now.

today I explained to the dentist that while I am not a natural redhead I do tend to need more novocaine than dentists tend to expect, so they gave me a different, stronger anesthetic and then I needed more of that halfway through 🙃

Recently on @thepressbox.bsky.social, @joelanderson.bsky.social used the phrase “Bluesky creators,” and it keeps popping into my head. I’d never thought of things that way! Y’all are posters, certainly, but something about “creator” always feels visual to me? Anyway, I’ve found it a useful reframe.

Listen if you work on media products and you’re not asking, “what are we doing to prevent this system from automatically publishing slurs?” at every opportunity, please just…do something else.
