மரமேறி / The Tree Climber அம்ருதா ஆகஸ்ட் இதழில், The Tree Climber' என்கிற இன்னுமொரு 'தொலைந்த தம்பிமுத்து கதை' யின் எனது தமிழாக்கம் வெளியாகியுள்ளது. In their August issue, Amrutha has published my Tamil translation of the next "lost Tambimuttu" story, 'The Tree Climber.'

Another “lost” Tambimuttu story / இன்னுமொரு “தொலைந்துபோன” தம்பிமுத்து சிறுகதை மரமேறி / The Tree Climber (அம்ருதா ஆகஸ்ட் 2026, Amrutha August 2026) In their August issue, Amrutha has published my Tamil translation of the next "lost Tambimuttu" story, 'The Tree Climber.' Thanks again to Shakuntala Tambimuttu for making a copy of the original available (reproduced below) which appeared in the now defunct The Reporter on September 22, 1955. The story is set in Tambimuttu's native Atchuvely roughly a century ago. It tells the story of the tree climber, Velu, who is part of Tambimuttu's grandfather's household.

Lines and Patterns, my translation of Kuppilan ai. Shanmugan's short story collection கோடுகளும் கோலங்களும், is now available on Amazon. குப்பிளான் ஐ. சண்முகனின் முதலாவது சிறுகதைத் தொகுப்பு 'கோடுகளும் கோலங்களும்' எனது ஆங்கில மொழியாக்கமாக Lines and Patterns என்ற தலைப்பில் அமெசானில் வெளியானது.

Jaffna Monitor has just published Lines and Patterns, my translation of கோடுகளும் கோலங்களும், the first short story collection by the veteran Sri Lankan Tamil writer, the late Kuppilan ai. Shanmugan. Links to the book at various local Amazon stores appear below. The original Tamil collection was published by A. Jesurasa's Alai Publications in 1976. It is gratifying to be able to mark its 50th anniversary by bringing out this translation. My heartfelt thanks to Punitavathy Shanmugalingam for granting me the translation right.

LIPI Library podcast interview

LIPI library, a US-based startup that aims to bring South Asian literature to the digital world, approached me last year asking if they can use some of my translations. I agreed to let them use my translation of akkā (அக்கா) by the veteran Tamil writer A. Muttulingam. (with his consent of course!). They are currently in the process of uploading the stories on to the LIPI library website. A few months ago, one of their founders, Samkyutha Ganeshkumar, interviewed me for their podcast. If you can read Tamil, you should read the original Tamil story on his website. ஷோபாசக்தியின் absurdist speculative fiction ("அபத்தவாத ஊகப்புனைகதை" எனலாமா?) "மிக உள்ளக விசாரணை" கதையின் ஆங்கில மொழியாக்கத்தை Jaffna Monitor மீளப் பிரசுரித்துள்ளது. அதைத் தமிழில் படியுங்கள்.
