Kobold facts: sandwiches are a good example of kobold ingenuity. Dragons disliked the sandwich as a low-class meal, but were convinced of its robust nature after two kobolds called them “real fancy” and used bread and ingredients they called “exotic.” Kobolds Jerzee and Mhike remain very successful.

Kobold facts: it is difficult for kobolds that only speak draconic to go to conventions, as they cannot typically purchase items easily. “Hey! Can I get you anything? Stickers or a standee or a shirt?” “Yip!! Yap yap, yiiiiik…yeeebyik yak!” “…so is that like two stickers, or…”

Kobold facts: butterscotch is a favorite amongst kobolds—it is not quite butter and it is most certainly not scotch; it looks like/is treasure, smells heavenly, and it drives gnomes crazy when you steal it from them. It’s a tricksy building block of their lives. Dragons, of course, love this.

Kobold facts: there is a reverence kobolds exude when viewing massive dinosaur fossils that is unmatched. Votives are lit. Delicate flowers are left at their mighty feet. Poems are read. There are tears. Elder kobolds tremble, the youth stare, agog. There is soft music—from where, no one knows.

Kobold facts: it is normal and expected to find 1d3+1 additional kobolds in your luggage after returning from a convention. What? You don’t bring any? Yes you did, shut up. Of course you did. These are yours. So are the new ones. And the ones at the door. They’re not new, though-they’re yours too.

Kobold facts: kobolds were the first to point out that lawn darts were inherently dangerous and could cause grievous bodily harm. They didn’t intend for this to get them banned; they thought this made the game incredibly cool and way more fun to play with near unaware gnomes and their families.

Kobold facts: kobolds, thematically and performance wise, like Monster energy drink—but due to their low challenge rating they can only have 1/4 of a can. 🥁🥁 (That one was for my fellow DMs out there, I’m sure you exhaled from your nose derisively or chuckled dryly at that one for sure!)

Kobold facts: kobold weddings are done en masse to save time, and are officiated by their dragon. This is an honor to kobold and dragon alike, and is one of the only times dragons become outwardly emotional. It is also one of the only times to see dragons dance and awkwardly navigate a buffet.

Kobold facts: kobolds love Knight Rider. They understand it’s a TV show, but they like the fact that even in the 80s that humans could appreciate a clearly-superior and sassy techno super-car going off and having adventures with David Hasslehoff (whom they [and dragons] consider an honorary dragon)

Kobold facts: all warrens have caves that are for the Older Kobolds with bawdy tunes, dancers and ale. Dragons seldom visit there-on record anyway-though a curious number of very tall, winged, draconic-speaking kobolds in long coats, sunglasses and scarves have been seen enjoying the amenities.

Kobold facts: basket fishing was accidentally invented by Roy who, when washing the warren’s clothes as a punishment, was shocked to find he’d absentmindedly dumped the high priestess’s sheets into the reeds and managed to scoop a bunch of baitfish. He is lauded as a master fisherbold to this day.

Kobold facts: kobolds will often use language as a means to disarm and defuse a situation. Typically after fighting yip-yapping kobolds for several minutes, it stuns tallfolk when one starts speaking in eloquent common. This is usually enough time to flank the confused dopes and make stabbies.

Kobold facts: driving through the American countryside, one sees old dilapidated barns; these still stand, a testament to sturdy construction and material strength of traditional building practices. They are also haunted houses for kobolds, who bristle and quake at the thought of Not Fixing Stuff.
