I'm just saying, I'd go on a lot more walks if the outside had environmental puzzles and free loot (big walk good)
Hell yeah, this should be way more common. Also very impressive how they can still do it after firing the *entire team* (I'll never drop it, sorry)

It's baffling that any game could launch in 2026 with only one general volume slider. I'll blame the console brain and people who are scared of settings for this. But there's no way ONE overall slider is enough for Big Walk, a game that's all about voice, where you can play with up to 12 players...
I'm halfway through the Thinky Puzzle Jam and I've been struggling to find the time and motivation, and the fact that the thread about it on discord was constantly filled with arguments about genAI'd games didn't help. They did a thread (now archived) about it and I feel like it made things worse...
It's kinda weird seeing people complain that Big Walk is online multiplayer only. For years we've had people say solo and couch multiplayer were the only respectable options, to the point that some defended Nintendo when Mario Party didn't have online. But like, no one forced you to refuse online.
It's much healthier if you view crit as a way to communicate with devs and move the convo along among other critics rather than trying to convince players. Players largely don't know, don't want to know, and are in a "defend thing I'm a fan of in any way" mode
Anyone dabbling in games crit has to watch game design talks about games they crit to remind themselves how detached player perception is from the actual development. Devs will regularly directly admit things that players will spent hours upon hours arguing against when critics point it out
real fun conversation about one of the standout action titles of the iOS era. listen and find out what kind of bullshit we all did to "make our fingers move faster over the screen". blowing into the cartridge is alive and well, conceptually 🌀

There were several times while working at Panic that I said I'd bet my career on Big Walk being successful, and that it would sweep the GOTY awards. Maybe that's a BIT preemptive, but I'm so happy for everyone involved that the reviews seem to be trending that way.
"Big Walk is 2026's unexpected GOTY frontrunner following high Metacritic score" What do you mean unexpected, it's your job to talk about games how could you not see this coming? Is this console brain having to remove any capacity to identify what you see so that you can stomach talking about AAAs?

In Paper Mario, Bowser claims that the Star Rod makes him invincible. However, in the first battle, it merely raises his Defense to a measly 1. If Mario is given just slightly better shoes, he can get through the protection. Bowser cannot handle taking over 10 damage, making the game crash.

The responses here make me think hater week means it's only okay to slightly challenge people if that earns you money through the website you built with your clique of journalists that reacted the same way cops do when one of them mess up... (reminder) www.nathalielawhead.com/candybox/abu...

It's so funny that people had to made a mod to turn off the UI in First Light, something that was possible in Hitman WoA. Obviously here they can't let you do this because it's a modern AAA game: you're playing the UI and assets are just here to make you think you're actually doing something.
