Weird cross section of interests but Ys, especially the first two, feel extremely on par for the same vibes as Conan The Barbarian. Actually, I can 100% see parallels between Conan and Ares too. Can't say much about Brandish stories, but I could see Conan going through all the shit Adol did in 1+2

Here he's entirely pushed into comic relief, which he was, but in 1st's restricted setting especially with characters like Schera and Zin always taking his time and attention
